I misread their press release. Looks like all of these new features will also be part of Logic 12, purchase edition. If you scroll down to the FAQ, you'll see it.

TBH, that's a pretty good deal if you want Logic & FCP on both your Mac and iPad Pro.What is the difference between the subscription version and one-time purchases of Logic Pro and MainStage?
Logic Pro and MainStage have all the same features whether they are subscription or one-time-purchase versions. However, a subscription to Apple Creator Studio bundles Apple’s powerful creative apps for one low monthly payment. It includes Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro for Mac and iPad, along with Motion, Compressor, and Pixelmator Pro. You’ll also receive premium versions of Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform with new AI capabilities and a wide range of high‑quality content.
Unfortunately, I don't see any mention of the most important and probably most requested fix: ARA

Has anyone spotted a release date? This may be the first time I don't update Logic Pro, if it requires a new license fee. In fact, I think this could be the impetus for me to finally switch to Bitwig. I think I have competent third-party alternatives for every stock Logic Pro plugin already, except for maybe Match EQ.

Okay, thanks. I didn't know if that pertained only to release/subscription start date for Creator studio, or if it would also be the release date for Logic Pro 12.0 standalone.jules99 wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 6:35 pmhttps://www.apple.com/apple-creator-studio/
It says 1.28 right there.

did you see this? Requirements: Logic Pro 12.0 for Mac requires macOS 15.6 or later and a Mac with Apple silicon. So no Intel support?

My guess is it will never be fixed until Apple acquires Celemony and pays Steinberg/Yamaha whatever their asking price is.cryophonik wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 4:51 pmTBH, that's a pretty good deal if you want Logic & FCP on both your Mac and iPad Pro.What is the difference between the subscription version and one-time purchases of Logic Pro and MainStage?

That is the one thing about this that seems perfectly reasonable to me. We are now on 6 years since Apple moved to Apple Silicon. Maintaining compatibility in new software for legacy computers seems unreasonable to me. I'd rather them aim their budget and development time towards improving Logic Pro. But, alas, all we get is more AI bullshit and a browser that looks like scrolling through Apple Music. Certainly, this does not look worthy of a full version number update. To me, this looks to be the lamest update since I started using it. On the other hand, I suppose I should wait for the full changelog to be published before jumping to any conclusions...MillerSam wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 7:38 pm did you see this? Maybe it has bug fixes, more important for me than all these 'players', chord generators, nice looking sound browser windows with images and so on.

Anyone wanna bet whether the sample editor is still the same as in 1998?

Coming by the end of the month
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Luckily, at least, no macOS 26 needed for Logic Pro 12.
Looking forward to any useful non-AI enhancements, chances of which look slim.

I'm curious if 11 is the end of free Logic Pro updates? My guess is yes, Logic 12 will be $199, because otherwise the base audience for Logic Pro, it's longtime users, will not subscribe.
