perhaps the re-scan option is checked in the preferences?
It never rescans mine.
Perhaps, because you have some dodgy ones, it rechecks them everytime. Pull them out and add one at a time until you find the culprit.

just downloaded l5 final and got the registration key. all is well i hope.

i'm just still majorly pissed off that i accidentally overwrote a damn promising song (first one for months) with mediocre crap in b20 earlier today because i was stupid and tired. oh well.

happened to me too, too many times. that's why i now have around 5-10 different 'saved as' .als's for the same project, so i can go back to whichever when things go bad.

yeah .. incremental saving is the thing ... shame more hosts dont do it automatically as an option ...

Good to have you as a Live user. I look forward to your experiences with L5! I love it. I still love Reason, but I find myself working in Live a lot more often :D

Live and Reason make a very handsome couple. There's more overlap in functionality than in older versions, but I still prefer to use Reason for most of my synths and Live (or Sonar) for audio.

Damn! You beat me to it Rob

:hihi:

...but now I got myself the boxed upgrade (which includes instant download upgrade and the box/manual/library disc later)... and I took the plunge and bought myself Operator as well (as I don't have an FM type synth at all at present).

Very happy :D

By the way, judging from the download upgrade I got, I assume that all the new Simpler patches/samples will come in the box when it arrives? They certainly don't seem to be there in the download upgrade. (worth considering for those who haven't made up their mind about getting the box yet...)

I last bought the box at version 2, (missed out v3 and did a download of 4) so I decided just to go for it this time.

Just out of interest, what part does Sonar continue to play now?

(video, surround, etc, important to you?)

I still have a place for Adobe Audition, I guess for those and other reasons...

Headquest, does Live5 provide full PDC for 3rd party fx and instruments as well?

This statement appears to suggest only Live's fx and instruments...

"Live 5 now automatically compensates for delays caused by Live effects and plug-ins, including those on the return tracks."

As Kvr's grand master of Live 5 and 2005 probably :) I though I would ask you. :D

Your help as always is appreciated...

christianmusicmaker, yes it does. as long as the plugins report their latency to the host of course, like with other hosts.
