Well, Massive X has more massive aliasing than Massive it's a true story

Post

Didn't think of it that way. Surely has a lot of truth in it.

On the other hand, this is very benficiary for NI as well. Now everyone tries out the synth, and checks if it aliases. Is Sadowick a NI shill? :ud:

Post

Well, this thread got quiet all of a sudden.

Sad Candlewick is, in my professional opinion, just another narcissist (technical term) who’s obsessed with getting attention online, and has probably never done a real day’s work in his life.

The internet is chock full of such people, and they cluster around anything created by people who have any talent whatsoever like flies around shit.

It’s that simple. Sorry to be blunt.

Look how Sad Candlewick has deflected this thread away from talking about Massive X, and instead focused everyone here around arguing about his fly shit.

It’s really sick, and people should just stop feeding such pimples online, and this includes one stupid country’s current Fearless Leader.

They’re all the same: ignore them.

I think it's because there's an implied consensus here that nearly nobody agrees with him. Which is why I made a response in YouTube instead. Advising his fans to not listen to him on this particular case and instead check out the demo themselves and evaluate.

It's not that simple when we're talking about a person who has 150k followers. That's a large potential for spreading misinformation. Ignoring it will allow it to spread easier, if nothing else.

I’m off to make music; I’ll leave it to the rest of you to fix the internet. :) it should never have been allowed to go commercial. :(

I will suggest this, though: if Sad Candlewick is spreading misinformation about a product that is discernibly false, I believe he could be sued by the company and his YouTube presence be taken down permanently.

He should consider that in his bathroom experiments.

Filters sound great. Dune 3 and Massive X have really raised the bar here, IMO. That comb filter sounds phat as hell. I don’t quite understand how FM works, though. I’ve used the routing to put osc 2 into FM and nothing happens...
Is Dune3 that good? I will have to try it again then...

Anyway, did you make sure to raise the volume of Osc 2? The FM is after that.

EDIT: FM is for filter FM, there's a little knob on the filter. In case that wasn't clear
Is there no way to hear filter FM and not the oscillator?

Dune 3 has filters on a similar level to Massive X. I much prefer Massive X's sound character though. Subjective.
I might too, though I think it’s because I like the wavetables that come with Massive X more. Really, they’re both great.

'The Orb' preset + Benny Hill Theme = Awesomeness :D

This should be used in MX advertisement. 100% sales guaranteed

'Amber Chapel' is even better, like it was created to play Benny Hill Theme specifically

Yes, just route what you want to use for filter FM into the FM module but not into any of the outputs, it will then only be an FM source.

Ok. I played it again. This time, I downloaded the actual WAV and played it in my audio editing software. Any residual aliasing that might exist, whether in the original WAV file or caused by my system, is now totally inaudible on my studio monitors.

The only reason I heard noticeable aliasing the first time, was because I made the mistake of using that lo-fi web player app. I won't make that mistake again.

To get back to speaking about Massive X.... I wish I could install it  :hihi:
New computer time? Maybe...

The Routing page in particular strikes me as interesting. It would seem to maxime power and flexibility with a limited number of modules, compared to the every-imaginable-option-ever-with-1000-seperate-modulators approach (which I feel often suffers from lack of focus and attention to detail, compromises in quality, and/or unwieldy user experience). How has this felt in use so far, for those who gotten around to making presets?

Also, how is the MSEG/performer in use? Hard/easy, slow/fast to edit? I'm curious if an editing system like that might eventually trickle into a new version of FM8, etc.

Start collecting additive synths. Their oscillators do not alias.
I love additive synths!

Unfortunately, the only two I have (Cameleon 5000 and Alchemy) are 32-bit programs, and there will never be 64-bit versions of either of those for a Windows system. (Thanks, Apple! :tantrum: )

I eventually need to get a good 64-bit additive synth, or maybe two.

Edit: I was just told there actually was a Windows 64-bit version of Alchemy released before Apple swallowed up Camel Audio. Unfortunately, I only have a 32-bit version of the program, and no installer for the 64-bit version.
