Is there any chance that the surge team will tackle -update the marvelous SQ8L by Siegfried Kullman ?
Has anyone contacted him ?
It's the only 32 bit plugin that I keep because it sounds so damn good .

Unless another volunteer dev or 2 or 3 or 14 show up, the answer is: 100% not this year and 99% not next year.
Our main undertakings Shortcircuit XT and Surge XT updates (and eventually Surge XT2), will take up the currently available capacity for at least that time frame. Then there's also a few smaller products that need a little TLC, which might happen after that or along the way somewhere. Taking on another bigger project is unlikely to happen before Surge XT2 has been released and maybe for another while after that.
But never say never! Again, if someone shows up with the skill to work on such a project, and who gets on with the team etc etc, well at least the conversation would certainly be welcome.

One can only wish. However, I got the impression from a few things I read that the developer doesn't want to release the SQ8L code to open source...... unfortunate.gentleclockdivider wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 10:21 pm Is there any chance that the surge team will tackle -update the marvelous SQ8L by Siegfried Kullman ?

Yeah that is a pre-requisite of course. Without that happening there's not really any conversation to be had.

SQ8L is dead I think. Dev is completely AWOL and yeah IIRC there was never a chance for the code to be open-sourced.
There's Arturia's which is also decent IIRC but holy shit it's way more CPU.

I just loathe arturia’s multi gigabyte folder for gui purposes , it’s just ridiculous .EvilDragon wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2023 10:04 am SQ8L is dead I think. Dev is completely AWOL and yeah IIRC there was never a chance for the code to be open-sourced.

Also ,the minor increase in quality ( if so) does not justify the huge cpu footprint .

Hello, I am Landosonic.
For 44 years I have been designing sounds and really became quite proficient. Yesterday I created 28 patches (almost all adjusted to the same relative gain/volume), mostly pads and keys in the style of Electronica for Surge XT 1.2.3 on a Mac trashcan under Mojave. I like the synth and my presets very much. They sound not so distorted like other ones, but nicely evolving and complex. Some reminded my even of my Prophet600.
I hope that Claes will approve them for the factory content once I have PM'ed the patches to him...will do so now.

This seems to be a trend with Arturia... Don't get me wrong I like their stuff, I just wish they'd focus a little more on optimization... I'm hoping, if Pigments 5 comes out soon, this will be one of the big changes...EvilDragon wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2023 10:04 am There's Arturia's which is also decent IIRC but holy shit it's way more CPU.

Claes doesn't really do anything with Surge now. Contact us on Surge Discord server! See the website for invite link!UnderwaterSunlight wrote: Mon Nov 06, 2023 5:40 pm Hello, I am Landosonic.

OK, here is the direct download link for the 28 "Landosonic" Surge patches (no registration required):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/190XjoS ... sp=sharing
Does the link work?
Please, by all means give me some feedback...
And I will contemplate whether I would want to join Discord... perhaps sooner or later...
