I used to make an expander with fixed envelope out of it and I can't now.

There will be some subtle differences, but there shouldn't be anything too major. I kept all the same non-linearities and levels of distortion the same, but changed how some of the equations were solved to make then more stable and give more accurate results for the MD version especially. If there is any major difference in a particular filter I'll be happy to look into it and see if I accidentally changed something.Ronny Pries wrote:Is it just me or did you touch the entire way The Drop distorts the sound? Feels much much more safe due to not running into the red as easily with all filter models.
It has been my fave saturation effect for a while, but now there's something I can't put my finger on right that kicks it over the top.
Or it's just in my head...
The only filter that should sound a bit different is the MS1. This should have much better sounding drive and more "growl" as I've solved the equations more in full so it's even closer to the analog original.

I agree with Funkybot, I'm loath to change the plugin ID as this will confuse many people. The differences sound only be slight, but if there is something major (apart from the MS1 which I've deliberately changed) please let me know as I can fix it with while still keeping the current IDFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Has anyone tried to open an old project to see if it actually sounds different? You guys might be trying to solve for a problem that you're not actually impacted by. I've already got one "The Drop Legacy.dll" in my plugin folder, I don't want two.

Hopefully it's not another Moog, another Hammond, another Solina, another wavetable, another subtractive...andy-cytomic wrote:I've already got some great sounding oscillators, better than the ones I did for Synth Squad, and I will do several synths in the near future, hopefully 2017.

That would be amazing since I have plenty of great 303 sample sources (Kontakt, Omnisphere etc.) but the filters are lacking in those. Would be amazing to have a standalone 303 filter. I wonder which is closer between the 101 and jupiter style models... haven't compared yet.

Hoping for a synth with some character like Sunsyn.
As far as filter go, I'd love a PPG filter. I'd like to hear your modeling would compare to the early one from Waldorf.

Well they will be subtractive since they'll feature the filters in The Drop, but they will be two original designs, one small and easy to get your head around synth, and one more complicated - the little one will come out first.HunterKiller wrote:Hopefully it's not another Moog, another Hammond, another Solina, another wavetable, another subtractive...andy-cytomic wrote:I've already got some great sounding oscillators, better than the ones I did for Synth Squad, and I will do several synths in the near future, hopefully 2017.

I may do a 303 filter in the future, but the 303 doesn't have a high pass equivalent. I could try and design one, or just skip the high pass type on that one. The thing with the 303 is that the sound is in large part due to the sequencing engine with accents and other slight variations that bring it alive, so I wouldn't want people to be disappointed because I'll have to leave all that out. Not ruling it out, but it's a definite maybe.Echoes in the Attic wrote:bumping.Echoes in the Attic wrote:Might have to pick this up finally. Any plans to do a 303 filter? Hi Andy,
The Drop 1.5.1 didn't pass Logic X's AU Manager validation.
May be I've missed the info somewhere in this thread but did you know about it?
I've kept the AU Manager log info if needed, just let me know how you'd like me to send it to you.
edit : just fyi, installer shows 1.5.1, within AU Manager it shows 1.5.0.

Haven't tried 1.5.1 yet, but I can't get the LFOs to put out a stable rhythm. The starting phase changes every time I play back in FL Studio, so it always puts out a different movement. Wasn't an issue pre-1.5. Scratching my head on this one.
edit: nevermind; I forgot that you moved the source controls to the centre, under the visualiser

Thank you very much! Just tested and all my past presets work properly!

hoping for complex oscillator routing/fm or something to get more complex waveforms that standard saw/sine/square etc.andy-cytomic wrote:Well they will be subtractive since they'll feature the filters in The Drop, but they will be two original designs, one small and easy to get your head around synth, and one more complicated - the little one will come out first.HunterKiller wrote:Hopefully it's not another Moog, another Hammond, another Solina, another wavetable, another subtractive...andy-cytomic wrote:I've already got some great sounding oscillators, better than the ones I did for Synth Squad, and I will do several synths in the near future, hopefully 2017.

weird. 1.5.1 passed AU Validation in logic on my laptop but not on my desktop.

Thanks for spotting this. It's just a version number mismatch caused by one of the resource files not being updated properly when the plugin was being built, it got stuck on the old version number which doesn't matter for anything else but Logic. I've done a clean build and it's all updated properly. I'll upload the correctly versioned v1.5.1 in a sec and let you know when it's ready for download.dayjob wrote:weird. 1.5.1 passed AU Validation in logic on my laptop but not on my desktop.
