Just to add my dissent... :(

First Sonar goes to "subscription" model, and now this--my favorite synth ever...

I may as well just give up on DAWS/plugs right now. :(

So, let me understand. What do all these funny things (camel jokes, etc.) mean? Is it a sort of shock reaction for the news? I really don't understand. I wonder why so many people here have difficulties in realizing CA just closed down, nothing else. There will be no buyer, no Alchemy2, nothing. Things just end, activities cease. Even if a supposed hypotetic "company" had bought some CA patent, I doubt they would use this technology to produce "Alchemy2" or whatever linked to CA products. Otherwise it would be something like when Yamaha bought Steinberg: nothing has changed. Same for hundreds of other companies (cars, fashion, food etc.). People don't even know that the brand "x" is now owned by the company "y". It's just business matter usually. Besides, when Apple bought Redmatica (their know-how), Redmatica software (Autosampler, Keymap etc.) simply disappeared. Period. Full Stop. Punto.

Camels are just too warm and fuzzy to simply walk away into the dunes.

Does anyone remember Steinberg, Cakewalk, Emagic, Sonic Foundry etc. warning the users like "please, download our products before july and make a backup" or so when their propriety was transferred? I don't. The "Redmatica-CamelAudio" comparison is nonsense: Apple bought their patents (I still wonder why and what for, actually).

All deals are not the same. Different details, different motives, different plans.
Different definition of success.
In the un-ending corporate chess match, acting many moves ahead, enables
blocking competitors in their future. The idea is to stay far enough ahead,
that occasional setbacks, or competitor breakthroughs, can be absorbed,
without major financial damage. Hopefully, the essence of Camel Audio
will survive in the future, in ways most people can afford to partake in. :hyper:

Ya, the more I think about it, it doesn't make any sense (to me at least) that Camel was bought by anybody. If so, it seems strange that they wouldn't let everyone know about it as to alleviate their fears about Alchemy's future. I'm guessing that the Camel owners had something traumatic happen to them (financial, family, or legal hardships) which forced them to "jump ship". No matter what though, the silence on the matter is very rotten IMO and very bad karma and unforgivable, if you ask me, to keep their loyal fan-base in the dark like they are. Very sad state of affairs!

My favourite Camel goes by the name of 'Bloody Stupid' . Although he is a ship of the desert, he is in fact one of the best mathematicians on Discworld. Unfortunately, not many people speak Camel so his talents are very much under-utilised.
You can find out about his adventures if you can be bothered to read 'Pyramids' by Sir Terry Pratchett.Image

Another thing that I don't understand: why suddenly I cannot buy their libraries and products anymore?! No warning and all my credits disappeared all at once. Why not letting people buy needed products and libraries, using their credits (for discounts) till july? Expecially for those who bought Alchemy in december 2014 or even the day before all this shit happened. That is very shady, shabby... whatever has happened, an explanation would be welcome, I think. Unless ther's something "financial" (taxes, loyal issues, trials, whatever), as I suspect...

I do think they got bought out. The reason I think this is because of all the silence. If they chose to simply go out of business they would of said something. I am sure there is some sort of gag order on them. Either that or a lawyer advised them not to say anything. If you have been dealing with Camel for the last 10 years or so like I have, you know they are not bad people at all. I don't think they would leave everyone out on the cold for no reason.
