I've been staying out of this thread since the "incident" a week ago because I've made a New Year's resolution to do what I can to avoid the fighting that goes on around here.
But there is a point that I feel needs to be made and I'll explain why.
Just a short time after its release, my library is now my 9th best selling out of the 35 libraries that I've released.
Now, my point has nothing to do with the library itself or whether it's good, bad or indifferent.
My point is this.
We all live in our own narrow little world. We hear a synth and we immediately pigeon hole it into whatever "category" we feel it belongs. We immediately associate what sounds "should" be made for it and anything that doesn't conform to our idea of what should be made for it is crap and we can't imagine why anybody else would want those sounds.
Well, obviously, there are a lot of people out there who don't fall into this "trap" and I am grateful for it.
In short, there is more to this world than our own narrow minded view of it. Just because you may feel something is sub standard, poor, crap, or whatever you want to call it, doesn't mean that everybody or even the majority will agree with you. There may be a lot of people out there who feel the opposite.
When the smoke clears, Avenger may very well be one of my top 3 selling libraries. I doubt it will meet the standard I set with Serum, which sold off the charts for whatever reason and may not reach Falcon status either, but it's going to be up there over time in spite of all the negativity surrounding it because it doesn't go "supersaw, wub-wub." And that's fine. Like I said, there are more people out there than just those who live in their narrow minded world.
And with that, I want to wish everybody here a happy New Year, even those who attacked me viciously. I wish no ill will against any of you.
Because thanks to those who don't think like you, I have a lot to be thankful for.

I will show you. This is the reason that I want to rename it.msvs wrote:no... why?? Its just a drumsample. What do you want to add as description to a closed hihat for example?
We want to keep it simple as possible. I think this uneccessarily complicates things.

Just wanted to report back regarding cpu usage problem: Contacted the dev, he stated that there seems to be a bug in thread handling under OSX 10.12.1 which causes the synth engine's threads to be handled wrong, so multiple threads are routed to one cpu core, instead multiple. So if anyone also exp. this under OSX 10.12, wait for OSX 10.12.3, which seems to include a fix, as the dev told me.

It would be the first time in Mac's history when a OS upgrade will bring more compatibility instead of breaking it. Looking forward to!Hanz Meyzer wrote:Just wanted to report back regarding cpu usage problem: Contacted the dev, he stated that there seems to be a bug in thread handling under OSX 10.12.1 which causes the synth engine's threads to be handled wrong, so multiple threads are routed to one cpu core, instead multiple. Music is art ! You can discuss for ages about it.
Sometimes I have the feeling, the average age over here is 12

Hello, I do not think that they attacked you with viciousness, they only gave their opinion about what you offer and what you can get out for free.wagtunes wrote:I've been staying out of this thread since the "incident" a week ago because I've made a New Year's resolution to do what I can to avoid the fighting that goes on around here...
In my opinion and with all due respect that you deserve, your patches do not do justice to the true capabilities of the synthesizer. The sound design work on your patches are very basic (again it's just my opinion)
On the other hand, the audio demonstrations are "cold" and do not demonstrate the true "impact" that could give that plus to your patches of avenger and other synthesizers.
Again, this is only my opinion as a "potential customer", is my criticism (constructive or not) and I hope you take it for good. Greetings.
Edit: english is not my native language, so I apologize for possible writing failures

One way I agree with Wag is that people are looking for very different things from a synth. It's a credit to Avenger that so many of us are interested in it who don't conform to the EDM stereotype, for one thing. It's obviously been very loaded towards EDM from the factory presets and general structure - of the 13 genre tags available, 10 are EDM, plus all three existing expansions, so that lays their colours to the mast. I do think that as time goes on, we'll see a lot of good third party banks focusing on different areas - sure hope so. Personally, I think targeted banks will do better than general purpose ones - I'm hoping that there will be some really good quality analogue electronica stuff.
On a separate subject, and a very general question - I'm curious to know who actually uses the SQ stuff, and if you do, what you use it for. It's fantastic for demos and for very simple generic stuff, but I can't think of too much use for them outside that.

Well, like you said, it's just your opinion. Fortunately, like I said, not everybody shares it.goleat wrote:Hello, I do not think that they attacked you with viciousness, they only gave their opinion about what you offer and what you can get out for free.wagtunes wrote:I've been staying out of this thread since the "incident" a week ago because I've made a New Year's resolution to do what I can to avoid the fighting that goes on around here...

well what you did there is just not the right way to do this. You used a DRUMKIT, like if it was a playable sound... why? Why not just make it the correct way and create a MULTISAMPLE with those Kicksamples, and make it playable over the entire keyboard. You can use more than 12 samples then, and do things with it, you cant do with drumkit samples. + you still would have the drumkit free for stuff like hihats, snares and percs.KR3WT wrote:I will show you. Real guitars for avenger!! I am working on some cool techniques like re amping avenger, tell me what you guys think. I know the velocities could be more realistic but for a test run I am impressed!!!

I was asking myself the same question in Nexus - but in Avenger I love it! I´m into patternbased music - so the 8 bars are enough for my purposes at most cases. Right now I started rebuilding some of my favourite tracks (own and other artist) so I don't have to come up with new ideas everytime I just want to have some fun, do some sounddesigning or whatever for half an hour.noiseboyuk wrote:On a separate subject, and a very general question - I'm curious to know who actually uses the SQ stuff, and if you do, what you use it for. It's a toy - that's for sure. But since music is nothing but my hobby, this is just the right thing!
BTW: I love it!

I remove the melodic layers and use just the drum loops when sketching a new song. Sometimes, I replicate the groove from a given SQ, sometimes I isolate a sound just to have some background stabs. I think finding ways on how to use an SQ without actually using the entire SQ (to the point of not being recognisable anymore) is a good exercise for creativity.Warehouseparty wrote:I was asking myself the same question in Nexus - but in Avenger I love it!
