Exactly.
It needs some heavy high frequency boost, delay and reverb.
I happen to have a multitrack of this song, so for fun i'm sometimes replacing the original OB-X sound with different VSTis. :)

I finally got the skin thing with disco dsp's version working.
Now I have both 2DAT's original and the new one in my DAW.
I gotta say the older one still sounds better to my ears (although the differences are really minimal) but Totolito's blue skin is really a joy to work with and look at.

Sorry if this is a duplicate question - I just want to confirm that on the Mac (using OSX 10.10) and Ableton Live, you can load banks, but there is no way to navigate to or select different presets within that bank, correct? I believe I read a comment in this thread that it's something planned, but not implemented yet. Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something obvious that can select the different presets.

I'm late for this party.
OBxd sounds really nice! It becomes my new PAD machine.
Now i'm wondering how their discovery sounds. :)

TBH, I don't like its bass sound, But It sounds amazing w.r.t Synth brass and PAD sound.

With some chorus effects, It will be used in my actual work.

Thanks!
I have to correct my words.

Now I love its bass sounds, lead sounds, and everything coming from this little monster!!

I absolutely LOVE IT!

Hi Ha Hu!

Both 32 and 64 Bit versions of obxd do not show up in the device browser in Linux Bitwig 2.0 beta 6 for me (The plugin-path is added)

On 1.3.15 at least 32 bit version (Obxd.so) shows up and works fine. 64 bit does not show up there as well (Obxd64.so)

Can anybody confirm this? Is this Bitwig or OBXD issue? It's reported to Bitwig as well but they link back to Disco-DSP...

OS: Ubuntu 14.04

Not really, I've done a preset on OB-Xd that sounds identical to the recording, all it needs is a little eq to lessen the mids and a bit of reverb.

Ironically it's on the OP-X Pro II that I find I have to increase the highs slightly, to get it to sound exact.

Sharing is caring. :)
Here is mine:

And yes, maybe i used a wrong word there - just looked at the parameric equalizer now and "heavy" is not something i would call a 5 dB boost at 5Khz (with a gentle slope ending at 2Khz and 20Khz). :)
The preset:

[Edit]
OK, i equalized a very short part, looped where a chord is held for long enough for the spectrum analyzer to grab the frequencies correctly.

Red is original, green is OBXD.

Is there a good patch for "One of my turns" for OBXD? I've heard one in OP-X demo and it's quite good, wonder if there's anything similar for OBXD. Thanks!

here is OP-X patch example btw http://www.sonicprojects.ch/obx/songs/o ... yturns.mp3

Original OB8 (well the whole "Oberheim System" with the sequencer and drum machine) owner here! Used the hell out of it for a decade then idiotically sold it.

But wouldn't you know it, the time has come again to produce a space dance tune. I could not find inspirational sounds in the usual places. Not putting down Omnishpere or UVI Vintage Vault which includes the Emulator II sounds that kinda gets me going ... but didn't quite feel like pulling the trigger on programs costing anywhere from $400 to $700 which is about the same in Euros.

Somewhere or other I found out about OBXD, after having resisted OPX Pro some time ago.

Well, after standing on my head trying to get it installed properly in Studio One, finally got it going and ... well you know the rest, as in it's way more than just useable for the intergalactic sounds to flesh out my space dance arrangement. It's downright inspiring.

Only thing is some of that inspiration seems to be coming from a lucky accident; what I'm getting at is that every sound I used -- bass, conga, piano -- was transposed up a whole step ... which should have sounded awful ... but kind of made the whole song. That's good, and I'll always take a lucky break, but I'd still like to know any possible explanations since neither the Tune nor the Transpose "knobs" change the note, they just change the character of the note.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks!

It's great for spacey sounds, isn't it? Something about the filter. Just sounds... spacey. :) Love that.

Yes!

btw I should mention that the S1 MIDI editor shows the actual note I played on the keyboard, even though it plays back a whole step higher.

This may have been addressed some where in this thread. Can the new GUI be made to fit on a 14 laptop screen . Now it fits vertically but I have scroll horizontally to access everything.

That s a problem, Yes. I worked around this by using the skin from Totolito, which you can access in the Skins menu.
