But I really, really, really miss tags.

It's kind of crazy, that you have Falcon, capable of layering about anything, and then you can't search the soundbank properly. The sounds can vary so much ... just having "Lead" or "Pad" is not even close enough to sort them properly. Each sound needs to take a variety of tags as well, since they can be several things at once (pad, glassy, bright, fast attack whatever). I find it close to impossible to navigate the library sensibly atm. Sure, the basic directories help, but that's not even remotly enough to classify a vast audio lib inside a hugely creative synthesizer providing so much different sounds.

I realized that when I went through all the default sounds, because whoever made the sounds tried to use all kinds of things Falcon provides in one sound. As a result, there's a lot of sounds that are warm and glassy, slow and fast etc at the same time.

I know the current data structure is not made for tags. Well ... change it :)
Agreed! It would be REALLY helpful to have some kind of patch tagging system, and a rating system along with it (stars, etc.). Any chance we'll see this soon?

Thanks!
Jacob

yes. i also find the browser to be a bit of a weak spot for falcon. currently i use the windows file explorer, and Aural Probe which is free and awesome:

is there a note tracking modulation source in falcon? i know that it's available in the oscillator tab though i haven't been able to find it as a modulation source.

i was searching on the layer level.

How it looks with a VST3 version of Falcon? Is there something planned? An infinitely in the resizable GUI, as in the standalone version, would also be nice.

As a Cubase user I of course agree with vst3, but not everyone/ every company is as enthusiastic about it as you and I are.
There may be other priorities. And some nice surprises.

Don't forget Falcon is only some six months old and we are at v1.1. I mean: it's clear to me that the skeleton of Falcon allows for much more that what has been released right now. And UVI do know where they are heading.

So I've installed the 1.1 update and confirmed that it's 1.1 when opening the plug-in, but I don't see the new presets in the browser anywhere. Is there a separate installer or am I forgetting something? Where are they stored in windows anyways?

You need to install the content again for the new presets, then those are shown with a "1.1" extension.

Ah, of course. Didn't even see that. Thanks!

Does anyone know what the MPE support actually means? Does it just mean the script was included in the factory scripts by default? I can't remember where I put the script in the first place because I just put it in my default preset on load so I guess I can't remove that but not sure what the changes are in 1.1 exactly with this.

MPE is a new MIDI standard and stands for Multidimensional Polyphonic Expression. The keyboards and other instruments that use this new standard are high-end ones like the Linnstrument etc. These Falcon presets are made especially for these.

Amendment - mpe is not approved as a standard yet. :!:
Sorry for snobbery.

Nor is it meant as a new version of MIDI. It's just an addition, not a new standard.

Sorry I didn't mean to ask what it was, that wasn't worded well. I've been using it and having lots of conversations with Tristan about how to improve it actually. I just meant what does "MPE support" actually mean in terms of what's changed since previous versions. As I said I've been using the MPE script. I'm just wondering what form the support takes. Is it a built-in script? Or built-in non-script function that I haven't found?

as far as i can tell, its the same MPE script (though didn't compare it) , but I guess the 'new' thing, is there are now some presets to demonstrate how to use it.

BTW: Tristan, can you add a linear curve for gain (I've added to my own copy), for many controllers they will already be adding a curve, so they don't really need any alteration to the gain level.
