I haven't been keeping up, are you guys doing only freeware synths?

Only freeware, but there have been osc with 'any one synth', where commercial synths were allowed.

No, but I've been wanting to. Which HG synth do you guys think fits best with the OSC?
Sadly HGFortune is no more :(
It seems many of his synths are still available here:

All of them are 32 bit windows only, and I've had a quick look at some. Quite a few are old, with small fiddly interfaces, but there are some very usable gems too!

Most of them use samples and soundfonts for their sound sources, and they sound awesome, especially for evolving pads etc. I particularly like the sound of Avatar ST. And with the Wheel of Fortune you could compose an entire track in one patch! (learning curve there tho)
Alphatron, Altair 4, and Silver Orbit (small interface) could be OSC material, as I don't think they use samples. Altair 4 looks like it might be difficult to tame for making complete tracks with percussions etc.

A bit special suggestion I guess.. but what about:

only LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio) + one of its synthesizers (maybe we could chose yourself?)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMMS#Synthesizers

+ all and only LMMS's LADSPA effects. There is a lot of them..

I think we could make a really nice contribution to the open source community! :)

Lmms! I started out with lmms :-)
Has zynaddsubfx built in. That's almost cheating!
The 3 OSC synth was pretty cool too.
You can also use vst in there and it has pretty neat modulation possibilities.

Sadly audio routing is a bit awkward and the piano roll editor was quirky when I used it. Had trouble with triplets.

It's a fun idea though.

Thinking in the line of LMMS, there's also Musikernel.

me 2 ! :)

would be cool to go back try it out again, and Im pretty sure the entries would just as good as usual.

the only downside is that people have to use a host they are not used to.. but LMMS is really intuitive and easy to use.

I was going to do a "'making of" series of videos for my OB-Xd submission a few months ago, "Collider". Are any of you still interested in that?

The SW I have for doing this unfortunately records audio in mono, so it's not ideal for a music production screen-cast, but i could still get the basic ideas across.

how do you guys feel about audio being in mono for a production tutorial series?

Post

Maybe record your stuff, and dub over with video editing software?

It would be a shame to put in all that work, only to be mono

i totally agree... i'll figure out something else. after all the entire point is the audio so... yeah, stupid question.

That would be great. It will be more than interesting to the how the magic happens.
I don't know which sw you are using, but OBS certainly supports stereo 48kHz audio. I myself tried doing the same some time ago, but OBS + DAW was too much for my CPU. And it is cross platform, so there's a Mac version. And for the editing itself - Hitfilm Express. Both are free.

I'm still extremely interested and look forward to seeing what you do. :tu:
Win10 x64, Reaper 6.XX x64, i5-3330, 8gb ram, GTX-970, UC-33, Panorama P4, Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 and JVC HA-RX700

@mmGhost

I would love to see that it would be really helpful and appreciated :hail:

I would watch it for sure, loved that track :tu: .

Look for an ffmpeg/avconv based solution.
It should be 1 line of code to get HD video and audio recorded.
