Actually, another nice bonus I just discovered is that the whole of the Loopology 4GB of stuff can now be used in Ableton Live as well. With the version 1.5 Loopology CD the format didn't seem to work in Live 4, but with both updates this opens up a load of creative possibilities. Also, because Loopology contains quite a lot of one-hit samples, there is lots of material in Loopology that can be used for constructing Impulse kits and Simpler sample-instruments. See you in a few hours, then :D

I never tried the loops in 1.5....I never use loops I don't make...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Generally speaking nor do I... but there is some seriously good stuff here, particularly because it is across musical genres that you may not be expert in. For example, I love the Rumba and Bossa drum loops here - I couldn't have made them as I don't know the styles well enough (and they're top-drawer recordings of the real thing, presented in 32-bit uncompressed audio, remember). It will be interesting to throw them into a track for fun at some point

Also, as I said the one-hits are extremely useful for making up sample-based instruments of your own. There are some good drum samples with sufficient variety to set up multiple velocity layers, for example.

The loops work in Live??? That was perhaps my #1 reason for selling v.1.5...

I'm tempted to shell out for the download version (since taxes would effectively double the price here in Norway) and AFAIK I still get the same stuff, except I have to print the manual myself.

Yeah! Cool, huh?

If it was really that important you could always have converted the loops to standard .wav files ready to use in Live though :?

It's nice to have that option, especially in countries with big tax. There's some useful tips about the download process here:

Ok, not #1...more another "so much stuff here I don't use" sentiment. I like others here also bought the AA Ignite! and basically used AA for extremely simple mastering (which I found out I could do just as well with my Voxengo plugs).

AA 2 looks more like something I might actually want to dig into.

I downloaded the demo (500 Megs!!!) Impressive stuff, this.

I've only got a few days of my demo left, so I want to find out if anyone knows:

Why when I render my tracks in multi and I set the master fader to -3db it doesn't seem to matter, and the resulting master track is at average +3 to +5db? AND when I set it lower to -9db it renders at -12db? IS it a bug?

Also, in the MAster FX rack, no matter what slot you put the FX unit in, it re-assigns itself to a seemingly arbitrary slot no matter how many times you readjust it and save the config??

These are the only two things that are bothering m, the last one not so bad but I hate mysteries...

Cheers,
Alex

The master fader raises or lowers the overall mix level by the amount you set (e.g. -3db in your example).

The level of the resulting track is the overall level of the mix adjusted by the setting on the master fader. I think this is actually how all mixers work  .

If you wish to limit the overall summed level to a certain amount, you should insert the "Hard Limiter" effect into the final slot on the mixer's master channel effects rack.

That doesn't happen here. Anyone else getting this?

Cheers Alex and good luck :)

 Well, I thought perhaps I could simply set the master fader to -3db and have the resulting rendered track (bounced track) leave -3db headroom when transferring it to 'Edit Mode'. No?

So, what your saying is that I MUST use a limiter in the master FX chain in Multitrack mode, whereas before (in vers. 1.5) I could do all my compression/limiting in Edit Mode by simply moving the rendered file there. Remember the option, in file mode of 1.5 to 'Bounce All tracks to any available track' or 'Render all tracks to File'?

This is where I am having the difficulty -- those options are no longer there in 2.0, so when I use the only option available now (bounce to spare track) I have, say track 13, as a rendering of all tracks but NOT at the master level I set at -3db. It's as though it's ignoring the master fader and summing all tracks to some arbitrary db range, leaving no headroom.

I know how mixers work, and I am not re-summing all the tracks along with the rendered master, but I admit this is no doubt a simple problem that is staring me in the kisser and I can't see it. So weird.

It's really strange. For instance, when I open the Mastering Rack, let's say I select EQ in the first slot. Then in the second slot I add Waves Imager, then in the third slot I add an L2 Compressor. If I close the rack and then open it again, the EQ is still in slot one, but the Imager is in slot 12 or thereabouts and the L2 is in the last slot (slot 24 or something). Weird.

Aaaah, I see. When you said "demo" I thought you mean the Adobe demo, not the Hong Kong backstreet DVD version.

10,000 hits! What are you guys talking about? :hihi:

Here are my highlights so far...

1.Adobe Bridge: As a user of the Adobe CS2 collection I can tell you that I would love to see this thing work with those packages. It just links everything together so well. Very happy to see this in AA2.

2.4GB loop library works with Live 5! (thanks headquest I did not know that)

3.Integration with other Adobe packages in general.

I should get AA2 but I will almost certainly get the Adobe Production bundle instead at some stage. 8)

I read some time ago that the integration between Encore, Premiere, After Effects e.t.c was pretty good, but now with the new Adobe production bundle it's probably even better.
