$69.95 (USD) during Beta, and once it graduates to version 1.0 it'll be $129.95. I expect that won't happen for at least a few more months though, and I'll give you some warning that ver 1.0 is coming, so again, best to wait a while before using up your free week evaluation if you're unsure you'll want it. But if you know you're going to buy it, then go ahead and try and buy early!TotcProductions wrote:I can't remember, and I'm too lazy to go through the whole thread...what was, if any, the estimated MSRP for this monster?I'm very excited about it.
Peace

Mixed up waveform modulation from the Mod Mixer:

More new controls!:

Please note again that there are no effects on this synth. All stereo imaging is coming from the synthesizer voice itself.
Any day now folks. Voice is 99.5% complete now. Need to add the functions of the new Env knobs. I have a few things to tweak in the voice assigner as well. Need to add an option selection page (unless you'll settle for editing an .ini file
) and an about-box. Then add pages to the website and set up the payment services. So I dunno... maybe by Friday if we're lucky? Monday "for sure".
Hang in there!

That's what I get for just going straight for the sound clips, then having an impulsive attack of replying!

Great clip though!

Once more I'm going to remind everyone that it's currently a HUGE CPU hog. On my P4 3GHz (@ 533 MHz FSB) I can only play about 4 voices before the crackling starts.
That's kind of funny, as that was exactly the upper limit I originally set out as minimally acceptable, but I haven't held back anything to keep it at that level, it just happend to work out to be where my gut instinct told me it probably would be. Cool when stuff works out like that.
So for many of you, this might only be useful as a mono-synth. At least at first during early Beta. I DO FULLY EXPECT that by the time it reaches version 1.0, I'll have it optimized to be 150% to 200% faster than it is now. (I might even be bringing an assembly expert in to work on it with me. But I'll need sales to pay him so please, if you like it but think it's too processor heavy, buying it will INCREASE the chances of it getting faster!)
While I don't intentionally write ineffecient code, optimization can tend to make the code very hard to read, so the first step is get the voice architecture exactly as I want it to sound, and only THEN dive into the optimization process. So for about the first month or so, until the voice is "nailed down", it probably won't get much faster than it is now.
That said, I've used synths made in Synth-Edit that are about as processor heavy as this one, that don't sound anywhere near as good nor have the huge number of features that Poly-Ana does. So, while heavy, she's not the WORST hog I've ever seen. Hopefully when you hear her sing, you won't care.
So, you've been warned! (But I still know when I release it that 100 people are going to tell me it's a pig!
) You will want a very FAST computer for this girl (so put some of the money you save due to our extremely fair pricing towards buying a new CPU!)

The clips sound good to me. But I'm still going to beat the GUI dead horse.
1. Text is still hard to read in places
2. The lower left panel seems really awkward due to the perspective (though perhaps it's not that bad in actual use)
3. The source selector knobs really could have used that slot machine style display with a small knob and a readout; they are the hardest thing to read and take up lots of space.
4. The overall GUI size is bigger than TERA -- and TERA is a PITA at 1024x768 (some controls are completely inaccessible) and slightly awkward to juggle at 1280x1024. And yet the part of TERA's interface that's onscreen is completely readable.
I'm probably not in your target market anyway (I don't need another VA even if it sounds great), but that has nothing to do with the visual and ergonomic aspects of the thing.
