No problem. I'll be in the middle of moving house (I hope) by the time it ships so its kind of moot to me when I get it, my DAW will probably be dismantled at that point anyways...

Not if you can't write the file...
I don't really understand why they didn't include that already, but I'm pretty sure it will come, probably within months rather than waiting for version 7.
Maybe because it could get really complex? {Adding frames, removing frames, flicker, editing functions, fades, dissolves, etc, etc...} There is a real difference between simply doing it and doing it at a usable professional level. Flash or svg or Toonz or Toonboom integration could rock and be a little more in keeping with the nature of the program... from my point of view anyway. Maybe functions like After Effects offers with javascript integration and audio to keyframe and so on... Then again... all of that might turn Live into a bloated piece of crap. I don't see that the majority of its users would benefit.

I still think common file formats are essential and would be of the most benefit to users... even between Live or/and Sonar and programs like AE and Flash and Avid's editors, advanced omfi support, etc... Video vst or After Effects and Photoshop plugin compatibility would be nice... If Live supported video fully.

If there were some way to alias/proxy a Live or Sonar file from After Effects I'd be thrilled to death. {So that, if you make a cut in AE and swap the segments around it could be reflected in the music file... if you changed the length of a segment the corresponding changes could be made in the other program, etc...}
headquest wrote:The point of warp markers for video is not to warp the video (amusing though that can be :wink: ) but to warp the music TO the video. The warp markers for the video soundtrack become master, and all your other tracks are automatically fitted to the video :shock: . Then you simply save the music and add it to the video in your video editing software (which anyone doing this kind of work presumably already has, so I guess that's why Ableton originally thought it not necessary to duplicate that...?)
That makes considerably more sense, though I'd really have to see it work to see if it's usable or not... What happens when you warp an audio file to fit something fairly long? Can you set enough markers along the timeline to keep things in synch at some points and fudge things where it doesn't matter? Does it actually work without throwing everything off?

I guess we'll just have to see what they come up with.

In reply to an earlier question I asked, below is a section from the Izotope web site that indicates that there are two algoriths - online and realtime

iZotope Radius™ Offline Time/Pitch Scaling
Radius is the highest quality time compression and expansion algorithm on the market. It uses a hybrid algorithm to eliminate distortion and artifacts allowing for completely transparent time stretching and pitch shifting. Please contact licensing@izotope.com for examples.

iZotope Omega™ Realtime Time/Pitch Scaling
Omega is designed for high instance counts and is ready to integrate into samplers, loop-based editors and other applications where realtime processing, high output quality and low CPU usage is necessary. Omega utilizes an adaptive algorithm to provide automatic operation for users while removing the common undesirable sound of other realtime algorithms. Please contact licensing@izotope.com for examples.

Cheers
