Just a speculation. But like beej said, about every sample library developer uses it now.

Oh... and how awesome was the patch swapping feature from the 2nd teaser where the patch keeps on playing while Eric dials up a new sound?

Now that was awesome!!!
It really is remarkable stuff. Really creative. You could just see the look of amazement on the faces in the crowd. The groove lock with RMX was just so musical...one could spend literally ages on this thing :)

About 2 minutes into the video there is some mention of RMX's Chaos feature (in some form or another) in Omnisphere then Eric starts playing this crazy sound. Like some kind of filtered, delayed gritty drum /guitar combo. Difficult to describe but I loved the sound. The breadth and variety of sounds coming out of this thing is amazing.
beej wrote:Hehe - I like the way that in the second video, Eric is playing a little riff, and then a pad comes in, and the guy in the audience gets a little look and leans over to see exactly what Eric is doing on the keyboard, with a "how is he doing *that*?" look on his face...
Yeah that was funny. I think this quote summed it up towards the end of the video nicely, "...its crazy...this is crazy" :hihi:

Not only does Omnisphere sound like a rompler on steroids, but Eric looks like he's on steroids too.

Eric Persing, Angry!

Post

Looking at the video it shows that it's not just an 'Atmosphere-like' layered sample-based synth - as I initially thought. So much much much more than the old Atmosphere. This is really going to blow up my speakers and I'm just pissed that I have to wait until September. Well done Spectrasonics.

HOT
I gotta say that this video had me wanting it. Great quotes and great demos. I'm buyin' the hype!

"...like 1978 all over again!"

Post

And just when I had decided to stop buying anything new for a long time and focus on really digging into Zebra2 and the Korg Wavestation. Well, I guess I have until September to do that before I upset things again by throwing Omnisphere into the toolbox.

that second video almost made me throw up.

what's up with those ?americans? (sry) always exagerating things out of proportion.

most of them looked like they just witnessed jeezes christ come out of eric's arse. jeez!

i'm not saying omnisphere can/will be a beloved instrument in the studio...

it was like watching one of those programs on those tv shop channels: you get the overall impression the whole thing is fake!

which of course it is not in this case... but still

i think for me it's just a matter of 'overdoing' it, i'm allergic to that.

just an opinion though, plz go ahead and don't mind me

:P

You're comparing Eric P to a tv shop host? :D

well, you know, i'm not against 'the hype' ... and they are free to do the marketing thang as they see fit.

as long as the endproduct is as good as i hope it will be/is, all is "fine" for me.

The thing is....with Spectrasonics' track record, most in the industry belvies whatever Eric Persing says...When he hypes something up, it's usually the truth.

at least that is my experience..

exactly wht i felt - 10 minutes of vrious people saying it's the best thing ever - and about 2 seconds of why it's the best thing ever
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

If you repeat something enough times, it becomes truth :D
