here it what i see right now

most of it i cant read, and i cant see what is related to what...

so, until i get some proper info from you i cant do anything.

i need a sketch of exactly what you want and where you want it, all i have so far is that you want an OB-X copy....and its pretty much nothing like it.

ie: you have knobs that need to be buttons?

so, draw it on a piece of paper, scan it and post it here, then i can move. Im not wating time guessing on this.

I don't... I don't need the synth to carry the Oberheim name, and regarding the synth design, I will be happy with the SOUND and the INSPIRATION, and having some development and variations on the theme.

It was Oberheim, then Gibson, then Viscount (which, I believe was under license from Gibson). Gibson owns the rights to the name till today, AFAIK. Tom Oberheim owns no rights.

Regarding the assets, that was never clear to me, but I presume they belong to Gibson too. SP did an emulation of Ob-X, and so far, nobody bothered him. Two developers (Arturia and WOK) did the SEM. Arturia one carries the Oberheim logo, therefore, I presume they are licensed. The WOK doesn't (obviously). But it's there, and nobody bothered him too (again, AFAIK).

However, I remember that, after launching Moog Modular V, Arturia was thinking in building an emulation of the Matrix-12, and Gibson didn't gave them permission. Something may have changed in between.

if he makes everything double in size it suits me just fine! (and making the GUI bigger would make that font text fit).
on my laptop the GUI looks very tiny and same on my high res big screen.
also maybe some white lines to divide the different sections (oscillators/modulations/envelopes etc), which he could include if the spacing between the knobs is increased...and that's it.
i'd be happy with that.

thats the defualt gui in my host, not the gui of his vst

You sum it up pretty well I think

Tom Oberheim has at least the right to use its own name as on his site. But if you read with attention his site he his himself very carefull about the names he employs. ( Well that's how I read it at least )

I also *think* that Gibson still owns the rights, but I did not check it, and that Viscount might have inherited it under a licence from Gibson, after their collaboration for the Strummer.

As for Wok and the likes, it might also be that the actual owners of the brand name and designs, be it Gibson, are just not aware that Wok even exists. Wich doesnt guarantee what they might do if they would eventually become aware of that.

Anyway, that was just to answer to a post somewhere on the internet. What people decide to do once they have the information is just what they decide to do.

OBeliX is a great name.

I am pretty sure it's not a good idea to name it like that. Maybe they'll never notice, but as far as I know, the copyright holders of asterix and obelix have some reputation of sending their lawyers against anything not licensed.
Idea is cute, though.
