hibidy, what Theo said. +1 here.

You been drinkin again? :hihi:

Seriously, your posts do add to the conversations. I think you misunderstood.

Those that say you should not post comments are just wrong.

Agree. I hope I didn't actually say that, apologies if it was taken that way. Sometimes (as we all know far too well) "intent" doesn't survive the trip across the Interwebs. The danger (as I am reminded) is that often things are taken literally, not so much "generally" or conceptually, if you don't choose your words very, very carefully.

But I agree in full with the last few posts.

This is precisely what i mean about cakewalk.. who does stuff like that? Heck, i can still load songs in logic X from windows versions! The EXS is there in tact, even their very first synth, the ES1. Steinberg used to drop stuff but they don't do it anymore either. Cakewalk seem to make it a habit. It's really sad. So.. what this tells me is if one wants to use v vocal but has had massive X2 instabilities (even unrelated to v vocal) won't get a bug fix and are shit out of luck.
Just for a heads up. If you have v vocal installed from an earlier version it will still work with X3. Also if you do a reinstall of X3 you can install X2 (or any previous version), but only the bits you want like plug ins for example.

That was the risk I ran when I made my comments. And I apologize if something I said was taken the wrong way. My intent was merely to open the minds to constructive conversation.

I have found your posts very enlightening and educational LawrenceF. I find you to be one of the most open minded here and great contributor to this forum.

Again, apologies to any and all I may have offended.

Now that is interesting news. One of the things I disliked about upgrades from Cake was the loss of previous items.

I think it was verson 6 they introduced some midi fx from Ntonyx that I really liked and then they dropped then in the next versions. I probably could have moved them into the version 8, like the CAL programs, but never took the time to investigate.

Thanks for this tidbit dredd i knight.

There are no worries. I do wear things thin.

I really hope X3 works out for those who use it!

My pleasure dsan :)
Yeah it is good to know. I once did a reinstall of version 5 or 6, but only a couple of the plugs that had been discontinued. You just have to make sure of what bits you want when the custom install dialogue comes up.
Mmm I dont recall those midi plugins; might be worth looking into.

Ive never seen anything 'lost'. The licensed stuff certainly doesnt always go into the installer for a subsequent version (that'd cost them accumulating license fees) but if its already installed, it continued to work, and it was almost always possible to reinstall it from the older media if you started a clean machine.

ok... that's a major "phew" for many. And i am impressed they have done the right thing there. Cool.
This has been the pattern for years. When you upgrade, the previous version is still installed so all previous plugins are available.

as long as you have v-vocal already installed on your system from a previous version of Sonar, v-vocal will continue to be there

The X in Sonar.. ..well for me it translates to a big "no, don't go there"-sign.

Liked Sonar 8.5 tho

This sale provides the rare opportunity for a direct look at a DAW company's financials and theirs does not look very good, and progressively getting worse...

http://www.roland.com/ir/pdf/2013/20130924.pdf

It would be - if it were possible - interesting to see similar financials for Steinberg Software, Magix (without all of the consumer video software numbers mixed in), S1, whatever. But they're more often buried / hidden down in their larger companies data I guess... so this is an interesting look at how much money Cakewalk the company is losing.
