Ya, Harmor does remind me some of the K5 and K5000.....which were killer synths IMO.
Apples and oranges IMHO. I have a K5000. But given the choice, I'd have to admit that I prefer Harmor.

Really? That's good to know.....it will keep me from being tempted to pick one up on Evil-bay. They are still getting around 1k the last time I looked.

Ouch!!! You may want to e-mail them. Years ago another developer let me get in on a sale price a day later since I asked them very nicely. I won't hurt to at least ask. :)

$1000? That's way too high to be worth it. I got mine when they were blowing them out because no one was buying them. I forget how much that was, but I want to say somewhere in the neighborhood of $450.

Damn fine weighted keys though. Best keyboard I ever played.

Is Harmor really comparable with the K5000? I mean the K5000 has 6 oscs and comes with PCM samples...

Post

the k5000 series had an additive side, and a traditional PCM workstation side which only appears on the K5000W (and is pretty useless from what I have read).

the k5000s/r both are strictly additive synths. i remember my k5000s sounding a lot rawer than Harmor, but i'm sure you could probably program that in..... and fantastic keys... but you can do a lot more in harmor than you could do in the k5k...

All K5000 versions have PCM ;)

There is a demo of loom it appears. Gonna check that out.

Edit: Apparently not. They just announced demos and they haven't actually been put up on their site yet.

As long as Loom requires PACE, it is a non-sequitur.
Demo or not, it includes a parasite.

hmm, you are right :) I never even touched the PCM side when i had mine... is there any use to it?

Yes. I have a K5000S too. The PCM samples are very useful for providing attack transients that are harder to model with the additive engine. So, they the PCM and additive sources work together very well (as was intended by Kawai--wish they were still in the synth game).

Soundwise, for pure additive, I think the K5k sounds great, but I much prefer being ITB when programming an additive synth. That's why I bought, and love, Alchemy--too bad it will die eventually, but I suppose that's why many of us are on this thread to begin with...

BTW, I agree with the poster who said that the keybed is phenomenal. I still use mine daily as a master controller--great feel. I have not found any better for a semi-weighted synth action.

I asked. They said, "sorry, can't help you. That was a President's Day sale." :(

So, I'm not going to pick up Harmor at this point. Looks cool, but I'll keep plugging away at Alchemy and Reaktor/Razor for now...
