Blue any better ?
tbh no... the previous knobs didn't have any lining around them. I prefer that..

Something like this?

I have added the 1.5 knob above to discoDSP Classic Skin and added SEM one too. Let's see if I can implement the high quality downscaling library to address the crappy Win looking GUI.

Yes that's much better now. I don't remember there being any issues with 1.5 at least not that I noticed. I noticed the issue in version 2 immediately.

That's because 1.5 is using 1x bitmaps and no downscaling from 2x and 3x bitmaps like in latest 2.0 builds. Work in progress.

Here's the GUI-view, finally. Sorry for the delay, had to take care of a gig in the meantime.

Any news about availability for this superb skin?

JESUS :hyper: This skin is exactly what it should look like. Really amazing job, hope its released soon.

Intended as constructive criticism but doesn't it look like the knobs and buttons are just floating on a black void ?

A little texture on the background wouldn't hurt...and the lights on the buttons could be toned down a bit. Just my opinion. :P

I think it looks dope.

Post

Don't you mean it looks fire ? Dope is so 2010...... :P

I'm not saying it looks bad I just think it needs a tweak....the background looks unnatural to me.

Like I said the controls are floating in space rather than being connected as they would be in the hardware and the button lights are a bit too much.

Again just my opinion, it's a great looking skin...... :tu:

maybe the knobs can be leaner, not as fat, and the black a little shade lighter to allow shadows from the knobs

Well, the thing does have 3d-rendered shadows.

With shadows:

Without shadows:

But since the background is very close to black, might not be so obvious for the cursory glance. Now, these things are a matter of taste, of course, but it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility to try a lighter grey for the background!

It does have a texture, as evidenced by this close-up shot:

But since the GUI-view has the camera further away from the surface, it's much more subtle from that POV. Again, it's down to personal taste how much you like stuff like this to poke through. Me personally, I find that kind of texture (when it's pronounced) to be a bit distracting when I'm dialing in a sound on a synth. As for the lights, I can't help myself there, I like 'em bright :)

But here's the thing, I'm not doing this for myself, but for people out there to enjoy. So if enough people share your sentiments, it'd be foolish of me to not take them into account. So thanks, Teksonik, for your detailed and constructive feedback!

Another thing, concerning the knobs. This is something I've been internally debating. Should they be like they are now, quite fat with the bottom end (as in the original OB-Xa) or should they be more lean without the large bottom end, kinda like in OB-6:

Any thoughts on this?

I truly think making them lean like the OB-6 would be the better route, as most of the other skins already have fatter knobs. I also think leaning them out would make it look more professional. Making the black background a little shade lighter, not too much, but just enough to see the shadow drops on the knobs. Man, if you could make those slight changes, this skin would be the absolute go to for anyone using this synth
