Again, it is easy to throw money at your problems, but is it really going to resolve them or just create further side issues if you're serious about your craft? Masking flaws that should be resolved in mixing later while in mastering phase is not a bright idea to me.. otherwise you're just polishing a turd.

Well, that was a different kind of answer than I had expected. It's valuable nevertheless. So, what happened 6 months ago?

I don't produce music professionally (probably not even semi-professionally) so I admit that spending $200 on mixing and mastering plugins might not be a rational decision but rather GAS.

And you are right, the overall sound could benefit from a better mix. So what I think could really help are the un-masking features in neutron standard.
With the current deals the cheapest way for me to get there is the tonal balance Crossgrade, although Neutron standard (and maybe ozone standard for the match eq) should be enough for me.

honestly if you watch some tutorials on mixing and just practice a lot, using the plugins in your DAW would be fine. I'm not saying I was ever that good at mixing just know from experience that there are always plugins that you think will fix your problems or weaknesses. They won't.

I'm still on "Music Production Bundle" and "08N2" bundles - which were obsoleted faster than you can say "annual subscription". It got so confusing with the amount of bundles. I couldn't figure out what was the best path to keep updated, if one even existed. "Bundle" seemed to become "Suite" so quickly, almost for no other reason than to make you feel like you needed to upgrade yet AGAIN.

Next will be Music Production "Collection" and Suite will be discontinued. There'll be no crossgrade path other than from the free Elements you got from Plugin Boutique recently. Gotcha.

Fair question and I have a lot to say about this. :o

I too was looking for the next cheap upgrade to Ozone :hihi:, it didn't arrive, then I started working more deeply without it altogether and looking at what mastering houses were using. The good ones. Listen to the finished masters of sample tracks to get a taste. Lots of 'professionals' making money in any field don't necessarily make for skilled workers. Not all doctors are the same even if they went to the same school...

Now if you're just doing this for fun, and you seem to be, then sure you can buy the software and enjoy yourself. But just know you're likely not going to sound like the top flight recording studio's mastering engineer with a few preset selections and some slider adjustments. Again it is a trained skill to understand how to use the gear, but an art to actually make use of it.

It is smarter though to work on mixing skills than jumping the gun and going to mastering. The master is only going to be as good as the mix. No wave of the wand, or even a ton of edits by a skilled hand, is going to fully fix a horrible mix.

Are you on Ozone 5 Advanced?
No, Ozone 5 Standard.
Pretty sure you have to have a previous version advanced in order to upgrade to 9 advanced for $99. Might be wrong though. Either way, the value you get going from 5 to 9 Advanced is incredible.
This is a special sale. In fact, I have the option of upgrading to Standard for $99 or Advanced for $99 haha. Since I'm so far behind, I'm going to have to look up what they introduced in 6, 7, 8, and now 9.
Here's an overview in case you haven't seen it yet:
