The Glue is so old, but still one of the best
indeed :)
PA and Waves have sales the whole year and Soundtoys sell their plugins almost for free now, I can't remember when they released a new plugin anyway.
So Black Friday sales is not that spectacular any more...

iirc LittlePlate, nov 2017

later, won a namm award and iirc said in a sonicstate interview something
like there'll probably be a "bigger"-plate someday...

In Mitch's (SoundToys rep) recent live stream, he mentioned yes they are working on stuff, something they have been doing has taken a lot of time (my guess is that they're likely rebuilding the entire plugin and graphical frameworks for Soundtoys 6 with new code for their entire platform to support architectures going forward) and also talked about the "bigger plate" thing, saying that they had a few thoughts about what that product should be, whether it should be the "obvious" thing (interpretation: just a bigger plate plugin, with more parameters etc), or whether it should be just a part of something else (likely, a bigger reverb plugin featuring more than just a plate etc).

Also, I've seen him mention in other interviews that FX Rack will likely get something "Little Plate-related". I often feel a bit bad for him, as he's a sales guy with nothing but the old (but still good) stuff to sell, and everyone always asks him when they'll be new stuff and he just can't really say anything as he's not responsible for the development end of things.

I think basically they're just trying to recode around a lot of technical debt that's really held them back for a good while, and once they are through that, there'll be some newer releases again.

I like "The Glue" more and the few plugins I'm interested in I already have. That's why the constant PA sales might not be so interesting for everyone at some point.
Exactly, they’re always on sale and if there’s something you don’t have, just wait and it’ll be on sale eventually.

Honestly all of the plug-ins could be useful to someone, so eventually, listing favorites just becomes another list not much different than their product catalog.

The J has better dynamics section, the compressor has a 'mix' control and I believe you can choose between the E/G(?) eq curves (E being less slopey curves). G maybe being more focused.

In the real world J was the most transparent 'clean' headroom console, probably is in the plugin - but it also has a THD knob as well.

If you have other 'flavour' compressors - then you may not gain too much from the J. If I'm using a channel strip compressor, normally it's to create a consistent 'compressor groove' with some subtle pump across the track.

I would say 9000 J can sound like 4000 E with THD knob, also you get the 4000 E eq by pressing the E button at the bottom. Beside the sound, I feel J is more versatile and can be used on any kind of material. If you're using Gate a lot, the Hold knob can be really handy, compressor can run in Peak or RMS mode, also you have the multiply and divide for E series eq, like on the G series, bottom and high shelf can run in Bell mode.

I was in the same position as you, between E and J and went with J, even tho it's more expensive.

:D Not a super-old thread, so maybe appropriate to revive/use for mentioning something that just struck me.

First off, Love it or hate it: PA is a fascinating company - lots of different manufacturers selling collaborated PA-dev’d ip - and as long as you’re patient, virtually all of their plugins can be bought really cheap.

Ot: I personally like too many of them to list; but otoh very few are imho goosebump-worthy: I’d pick Elysia and Lindell Audio as the product lines of theirs to look at/try out if you haven’t had any experience w/PA.

Ok. This is why I revived this thread, c/p from their website (this is available to subscribers of F29)

“The Plugin Alliance MEGA Sampler comes packed with over 7,500 loops including Native Instruments sound selections for the initial release! Process all these samples through modeled filters like the Knifonium, PPG, and new FX pedals from our partner brands Black Box Analog Design, AMEK, PPG, SPL, Maag, elysia, and more!”

PPG? Is Dr Palm involved in the development of their Sampler?

Sounds like it?

"a brand new filter from our PPG synthesizer brand!"

Edit: sounds like this has been in the works for a while?

So then perhaps a logical question might be if wavetable functionality - complete with PPG wavetables - might become part of MEGA’s feature set?

At this point in time, I can’t think of a single “must have” PA plugin.

I have dozens (most acquired for free or cheap), yet only have maybe 3 or 4 installed - and I don’t often use them.

I picked up the Townhouse recently. Really nice. It will be replacing the IK TR Bus Comp since we still don't have M1 support for T-RackS.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

So SOME plugins from both izotope and NI will be available for forever purchase through their F29 plan:

I think a lot of people are here now, when I built my new laptop I didn't bother with any of the guitar effects or random eqs etc which many people have accumulated with the megasales/vouchers of the last few years etc.

I think it's a shame if this has had a devaluing effect as there are certainly some gems there. I'm more into synths and creative effects so feel plugs like bx_oberhausen, thorn and especially the UA effects are totally worth the ~$30 you can get them for. Personally I reckon Sandman Pro should be seen in the same light as ReplicaXT, EchoBoy, VDelay etc as a creative delay but as it was effectively given away, it's seen as a cheap giveaway...

From the effects the only 'must haves' for me are the Unfiltered ones, which are in a class their own and I don't really think of them as 'PA plugins', just they host and sells them. Most of the synths are worth it though.
