Physically I can't say they exude quality. The panel is super thin and the 281t's PCB was smeared with IPA/flux (worst I have seen on a factory built).

Whilst I have no 4U to compare to them to, they sound fantastic. A few cables in and straight away you are hearing THOSE sounds. I love them :) Hours and hours of tweaking will be had

thanks :)

shame about the quality :?
ill have to keep an eye on reviews, see if that improves maybe?

glad they do the biz though, as you say "those sounds" it's what makes it such a tempting little box, not cheap but compared to buchla it's peanuts, and it's an ongoing thing.

have to look at availability, don't fancy getting some but other bits become unobtanium, if im doing it, i want a full buchla looking case, it's just so b movie space ship cockpit

Congrats!
I love 258 oscillators. I've used an original Buchla 258, a 258v and I have a Stroh/J3rk 258 clone. The linear FM is so f**king amazing and if you cross-mod them, the result is ungodly.

Have fun!

Inertia is really cool overall. It feels a bit weird as an envelope, though for curvy envelopes or if you want it to dip negative afterward it's kind of neat. It's pretty cool as an LFO or oscillator, but when you start getting into filter territory is where it's really unique and kind of mind-bending. Modulating the skew with an envelope is fun, and if you push it far enough it will act as a frequency divider. It also can have some weird psuedo-sync behavior that I'm still trying to figure out. Even just using it on pitch sequences to add a little spike on certain transitions, or a burst of FM using an envelope to accent some notes, is cool.

Also I'm really liking the new bass. 28.6" scale length is really playable for me, and the sound and feel are just spot on. I never put much thought into pickups before but the P/J setup gives a lot of versatility. It works a lot better with some kinds of effects than the more mellow U-bass does, so I've been trying all kinds of chorus/flanger/phaser stuff as well as delays and having a great time with it. And yeah, frets make things so much easier, as much I like the "mwah" of a fretless.

Just arrived!

I'm going to order a stand/wood cheeks to keep it angled/upright for use and storage purposes (thanks Shabdahbriah).

So close to buying a Digitakt. I’ve never owned anything from Elektron, but they get a lot of praise and I really want a standalone drum machine that can also sequence my hardware synths. The one thing that makes me a little hesitant is the number of secondhand ones I’m seeing on reverb.com, eBay, etc. Hmmmmm… why is that?
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Trigon 6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Integra-7 | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

I have never owned one, but I suspect 'learning curve' and its specific (and apparently unique) workflow/methodology.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

That plus easy to flip. I bought mine off Reverb and tracked Digitakts for a week and looks like they only stick around for a day if they’re under £500.

Good points. On a related note, it's funny to see how many people are asking more than the MSRP on their used ones on Reverb. :dog:

Yeah never understand why that happens, but maybe they’re adjusting the price to take out Reverb’s cut and don’t realise the new dealer street price is a fair bit under the price showing on the Elektron site (currently £649).
