Thanks for this thread, guys, tons of great stuff here.
I collected a list of links to a bunch of freeware amp modeling stuff at my blog:
http://geareview.wordpress.com/2009/03/ ... rth-using/
The idea is based on an upcoming post for a "ReValver MkIII expansion pack," but I'm going to be busy this week so I wanted to give my readers something to dig into in the meantime. Maybe someone here will find it useful, I've certainly gotten so much use out of KVR over the last few years, don't know why I waited to register until now.

those plugs are looking might fine, going to test them out...mildonm wrote:I've just released a new one, Back Stage Vocals. http://mildonstudios.com/backstage I'm planning to do a series of effects that does some pre-EQ. I'll add them up when they're available. This one is best classified I think as an exciter/enhancer.

Yep, those are the good ones, I'd add Dirthead as well.Agreed wrote:I collected a list of links to a bunch of freeware amp modeling stuff at my blog: http://geareview.wordpress.com/2009/03/02/freeware -plugins-worth-using/

I actually have that one but haven't got around to testing it. I didn't want to recommend any just based on word of mouth, you know? I've got a folder full of candidates that do different things for ReValver that make it more full-service than the stock program (which isn't a slight against ReValver, it's still a very young program and given that it is extremely promising, already delivering great results and only just recently backed by real support and money). When I do the full article I'll go more in-depth on stuff and try to get some clips up, too, but for now I just wanted to post ones that I have real experience with and know are awesome.chj wrote: Yep, those are the good ones, I'd add Dirthead as well.
I didn't link the Simulanalog (pre-Overloud plugins by the Overloud guys) suite there or Voxengo 1.5 because they're in an older article, but if anyone is somehow not familiar with them, they're great additions as well. Until TubeScreamerSecret, I felt that the Simulanalog TubeScreamer plugin was basically definitive, and I still use the Simulanalog Boss pedal emulations in ReValver all the time.

Aradaz is NOT the author of BootEQ. Bootsy is.

Thanks for pointing that out, I'll fix it right away. Haha, that's embarrassing.

Hello all, I have just released DIG 1.03 which is a high gain amp model software.
Last week, I released Guts. Guts allows you to build your own amp model. We have got Fender, Marshall, etc models from it so far so it seems to be pretty versatile. We even managed to get a big muff pedal out of it. Guts then saves the Amp model you've made as a file. This file can then be loaded into the Amp Definition reader called Snap. It comes with Delay, Noisegate, Cab shaping reverb, and chorus, although the chorus will be leaving the lineup in the next version.
Anyways, here's the link and I hope you enjoy it.

SoloC may be a nice addition to the list.chj wrote:Yep, those are the good ones, I'd add Dirthead as well.Agreed wrote:I collected a list of links to a bunch of freeware amp modeling stuff at my blog: http://geareview.wordpress.com/2009/03/02/freeware -plugins-worth-using/
You also mention AuraPlug on your website and I have to say, Red Skull may be underappreciated. I downloaded it awhile ago, disliked it and deleted. But recently I gave it a second look. Problem was I treated it like a stomp box the first time (which would be natural because it looks like one.) If you put it before a overdriven/distorted amp, it gives way too much distortion. But, if you let Red Skull handle all the distortion and feed it through a clean amp/speaker (i.e. AradazCrunch) you get beefy metal tones.

What a...good idea?Dingo865 wrote:Since this really useful thread started about VSTinstruments, I thought it'd be hightime to start the same list for effects.
Surely, this is the thread of the future. More specifically, one can not only re-use it at least once a year, one can predict that it will be listed in the latest post section on a regular basis.
I've got nothing to sell...am I on the right site?

I appreciate the lengthy list.
I'm new to the world of DAWs and their options, so if you don't mind I'd like to ask some noob questions.
I just bought Cubase 5 and the native effects are really limited: basically a list of presets for only a few effects options (delay, reverb, distortion, and eq). Would Cubase Studio 5 have been a better choice for an effects array? Can I just download free Cubase plug-ins from the places you've linked us to here instead of upgrading? Is VST Plug-in a term applicable to all DAWs?
In short, I want more processing effects and I don't know yet how to get them.
Thanks.

For the most part yes, vst is for all daw's (that are on PC).Averial wrote: Is VST Plug-in a term applicable to all DAWs?

Thanks.
And alot of the free stuff out now is better than what's included with C5.
On the left of this post you'll see under my name "profile".
Click on that and then look for "KVR Marks: View".
Click that and you'll see a list of all the (mostly) freeware I use.
That'll getcha going in the right direction.
