PhyMod is a highly unusual application, aimed at physically
modelling sounds. The main screen shows somewhat pixellated
representations of what appear to be models of molecules, or
a series of dumbells formed into some kind of sculpture.
This is supposed to represent a series of weights linked
together, thus forming a physical 'instrument', or in PhyMod
terminology 'sculpture'. You can play around altering values
for density and such like, but the main fun seems to be
processing samples through it. By the time PhyMod has done
its work, the resulting sample can sound like it has been
contact miked frm a huge pylon, or is playing in a
soundsystem down the street, through to resonant plates and
clangerous tanks. Highly convincing, and all rather fun.

hey yoNEKRO.MACHINE wrote:dreadd & anybody else who tried the beats:what did you think of the drum breaks?
If you guys liked them its no problem for me to do more. Please let me know peopleand i will whack some more out with different sounds/tempos/styles and i will make each a loop instead of one big file and do a .Wav loop and a REX2 loop also
See i enjoy doing it and since im not very good with the interwebz and therefore pretty lame finding stuff, i want to offer something back for all the amazing stuff you guys have provided links to
Dean
they sound pretty tight to me as sounds themselves and levels between the different sounds, plus, as my area of interest is on d&b, the fact that you recorded them at that speed is just plain invitating for me to recycle them in several patterns
my only advice would be, stay away from hitting the kick too often or quickly in the pattern, as most breaks could sound too present on the kick department if sped up or something...(I know i know, you come from the metal side, hence over there is quite familiar as use of the kick on the groove patterns, so bear me for the last bits ..
actually i thought about using them on a track i was starting to build up, but so far couldnt get my hand back on it since ages, so far...
BTW Eidenk some of those links you posted around page 206 are definitely some heavily experimental lofi tools
Peace out

Glad you enjoy some of that stuff, some of it is rather good. I am digging into Steinberg Wavelab 4 ATM which I bought on eBay last week and received yesterday. Great piece of kit it seems. The most unbelievable about it is that has no copy protection whatsoever, not even a serial to enter during install when Cubase VST 5 which I also bought on eBay recently requires a serial to install AND a dongle to run.dreaddd wrote:BTW Eidenk some of those links you posted around page 206 are definitely some heavily experimental lofi tools![]()
thanx...im digging Blipgen and some of the additive synth sound generation tools, in particular, ATM
If there was not all those freebies to collect and sort in addition, maybe I'be doing some music.

oh i definitely HEAR YOU on thateidenk wrote: If there was not all those freebies to collect and sort in addition, maybe I'be doing some music.
im taking it philosophically lately: i really dont have time when home to deal with Cubase since ages, so at least ill have fun with stuff i can actually do it on snippets of time and put it in "pause mode" for a while when i have to actually work for real at workplace, without losing the plot...
ie i can do quick tests on vstis or i can edit samples or recycle them, or anything similar activity able to prepare stuff that HOPEFULLY either myself or other people can use it somehow in a not necessarily long term future
in the meantime another desaparecido here, i fear

We are getting there slowly but surely I think. You are lucky to be able to do what you do at work me thinks. They are many worplaces where you certainly can't do what you do.dreaddd wrote:oh i definitely HEAR YOU on thateidenk wrote: If there was not all those freebies to collect and sort in addition, maybe I'be doing some music.

the price wasnt mentioned on the freesoftware link , so i thought it could have been like those rare cases where the product is free but still needs a serial to get an activation...err or something like that...eidenk wrote:

Cheers for the feedback dreadd: i will lay of the double kicks
and keep them around the 175 BPM mark. I will also do some whacked out slower loops like half time 90/100 BPM and get back to you with whatever i come up with. The main thing i was trying to keep out was to many crash and splash hits as they seem to overpower loops big time.
Nice one
