Nice spreadsheets, and I had forgotten about them. Thanks for the reminder!

There's still a ReTank vs XpansionTank mystery when it comes to the Down Tempo and the various Trip Hop sets.

The spreadsheet labeled "Down Tempo vs Trip Hop" actually lists the RAW Trip Hop Beats vs the XT Trip Hop set. The Down Tempo set isn't included at all, and the sheet includes the RAW rather than ReTank set. (The RAW and ReTank sets might have identical loops, so it might not make a difference.)

The ReTank version of Trip Hop Beats is a 1.35 gig set. The XT Down Tempo set is 1.33 gig, while the XT Trip Hop set is 1.16 gig.

So the key questions are:

1) did the entire ReTank Trip Hop set go into the XT Down Tempo set? (That would make sense since the sizes are so close - extra slice maps or whatever could easily account for the small difference.)

2) if ReTank Trip Hop went into XT Down Tempo, then what sets went into making the 1.16 gig XT Trip Hop set?

  • last date to buy XpansionTank GB from IKM: 06 June (so it is now closed)
  • last date to register ST XT at IKM to get the bonuses: June 15
  • last date to choose the GB bonus Xpansions: July 6
  • last date to download ST XT and the 1 GB library: ST XT will be in your User Area like other products, and XT library 30 days from registration
  • last date to download the selected Xpansions: 30 days from the choice
Example:

Suppose I registered my XT2 multibox serial on the 5th of June...
Then I wait until the 29th of July to choose my free 7 Xpansion Tanks
Once I have chosen them, my sounnd library downloads will expire on August 29th...
If I do not choose them before the 30th of July, I will lose the 7 free tanks.
Peter, your example is confusing, and possibly incorrect (unless I am missing something).

First of all, you stated above the you have to chose your expansion by July 6... so in your example it would already be too late on the 29th or the 30th of July. And if you meant June, I still don't see the different between the 29th or the 30th of July in that example. I think perhaps you meant to say the "29th day" and the "30th day" and were not referring to months at all??

it is what is stated on the GB page, though. The list is more clear, though, so the example was probably not a good idea.

Peter - the problem with the example is that it directly contradicts what you had just posted up above it. Your post said the last day to choose the bonus Xpansions was July 6, yet your example has you choosing them on July 29.

That's why I asked earlier if you had made a typo and meant June 29.

Can you please explain?

Thanky you guys for all your useful hints.

I now just HAVE TO state that the esoundz support is nothing but awesome! Without example!

I e-mailed Allen on my issue. He replied within minutes, saying that it was Squids who could give the last information about this. A few minutes more and Allen came back again mailing that indeed it was the Capsule Drums that offer multi-out support.

So he asked me if I would like to have this one and just put this unit online for me in my download area (although I had been chosing the studiophonik bass pack already ... too fast). No more words needed here ...

What could a customer be expecting more?

Oops, got it. Edited my post to correctly reflect what's stated on the site. Thanks!

No. Trip Hop as a R.A.W. pack is pretty large as it is and when we did Xpansion Tank 2 titles we were doing BOTH menu maps and slices (which takes up more space) so it was going to be too large. We split it up into two Xpansion Tank titles. One is called Trip Hop and the other is called Down Tempo.

Even in your edited example you still choose 54 days after registration :?:

I should have left it with the blurb that's on the site. I didn't edit the example. Lifecycle of an Xpansion Tank download: You register. Choose within 30 days of that registration. Download within 30 days of that. Thank you :)

Yeah, I'm confused by this too. That implies that that the people who bought in back in April get screwed, because 30 days after they registered was before the Group Buy hit 6x1, 7x1, or 8x1. I'm sure that's not right!

It's relevant to me because I have a friend who joined in on May 11, and he hasn't picked his 8th choice yet because he's been on a business trip. I want to make sure he has the time to do it.

It seems to me that everyone should at LEAST get the 30 day window starting the day that a particular bonus level was achieved, and probably just letting it run until 30 days after the Group Buy ends/ended would make that easiest.

Nobody will get screwed. The new choices arrive as the milestone is passed. There was no need to make this so confusing, apologies for that. We are not known for screwing people and will continue down that path. Anybody who encounters any issues will be helped. No worries.

For the record, I trust this 100%, as in my books you guys are among the most reliable ones in the business :)

I only commented because it seemed odd that the infamous Example :D (still) contradicts the other info so much, and figured it might be a good idea to correct it or pull it completely.

But yeah. I'm positive there's no need to get actually worried over that one.

Post

Yeah, I have no doubts IK will do the right thing... as I said, I'm sure what I said wasn't right, if only because we would have heard the howls of early buyers by now! :)

It's just easier if we can do the right things ourselves without having to get IK involved, and it's not 100% clear what "the right thing" is in this case. But, I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll just tell my friend that he should make his 8th choice as soon as is feasible.

Thanks Squids! Putting the pieces together (checking to see if I have it all straight)...

RAW Trip Hop Beats = XT Trip Hop + XT Down Tempo (but in RAW rather than ST format)

ReTank Trip Hop Beats = XT Down Tempo (same loops, but maybe not the same slice maps, etc)

Remaining question: ReTank ????? = XT Trip Hop

Post

Thank you Peter,

I' m sorry if I triggered the confusion. IKMM have been relaible for me and I'm sure that everyone will get looked after.
