yah matt. A little. I don't want to share yet though. I've sent it off to Joe so he knows I'm slowly working on it. I just created my own tiny tiny font though if anyone wants it, it's 5px by 3px (except M and W and a few symbols which are 5px wide). In this way I can really get tiny pixel detail of control labels.
I'm not exactly happy with what I've got progress wise on the skin so far, still thinking things through. The current pedal body doesn't speak to me very much and I'm mulling over what to do about it.

eventually?
would it help to ease the burden to see it in progress? I guess I could post the current state but what I really don't want to happen is everyone to give me too many opinions right now, you know?
I appreciate them all but it makes my job even harder

ok, I've made some progress that I'm not ashamed to show.

I wasn't able to do the idea with the foot pedals, ah well. Anyway the pedals are basically all going to look like that one. Except they will not be dual pedals except for the green pedal to the right.
In this shot, the pre-comp LED meter is up all the way, and it's pushed on. The post-comp is down all the way and disabled. Is it obvious enough?
The other pedals reflectivity/materials/light sourcing are only there for me to sample colors from they will not stay like that
Ok bed time.

I think that's looking really cool, Grymjack! I feel almost dirty for looking so soon, though..I want to be surprised!
I wish I hadn't seen that double-pedal look, coz I really like it. I've never been crazy about having to switch the pre/post view, and that would've been an elegant solution - but I guess you run out of real estate too quickly! Oh well, it'll be fine the way it is.
Comments: the pedal looks plenty activated to me, the bright red light really helps above and beyond the depth of the pedal.
Does the "Helian" logo look a little aliased, or is it just me? I like the font for "FreeAmp" much better, although am I right in worrying that it's very similar to the IK Multimedia font? Anyway, I wouldn't mind at least seeing that relief treatment on the "Helian" logo; it looks a little "sewn on", but hey, it's pretty early in the game. The grill and tubes are looking way livelier now!
Great job, Grym. Lookin' awesome.

The aliasing on the Helian is supposed to be stitching from the embroidery. I have to do a line to connect the H to the rest of the logo like real embroidery. Should I ditch the embroidered feel? I kind of dig it.bduffy wrote:I think that's looking really cool, Grymjack! The helian logo typeface is the legacy of freeamp, and I refuse to change that for the sake of paying homage to it's legacy
Thanks for comments.

Yeah, that sounds good to me. Just my middle-of-the-night thoughts. I do like the original look too, definitely homemade-feeling...carry on!grymmjack wrote:The aliasing on the Helian is supposed to be stitching from the embroidery. The helian logo typeface is the legacy of freeamp, and I refuse to change that for the sake of paying homage to it's legacyThe idea was to make it "oldschool" looking (the helian logo) and make the FreeAMP logo more updated/recent. I love the homemade feel of the old plugin UI. I know it may sound odd but Joe but alot of time and effort into it and I've become so used to seeing it I wanted to preserve that part as a nod back to his original.
Thanks for comments.
