That's pretty good there, I'm impressed.tony tony chopper wrote:Ok here's my take with Sytrus. Of course it'll be very different since it's near to impossible to replicate a patch, but I tried to mimmic the key points:
-phaser that kicks in in the middle
-not sharp attack, so surely there's something in the volume envelope but I can't replicate it
-same with the filter env, I think the envs and more specifically the env *curves* are one of the most important things in a patch. You can switch to other filters and not hear the difference, but try to change env curves and it'll have a big impact, especially for short arp notes like this.

VSTis as good as hardware? Similar to Access Virus Quality?

Preset here for those who want to toy with it:
http://www.flstudio.com/gol/Hypersaw2.fxp
It requires Sytrus *2.2* (new from last week) or it won't load. Get it at sytrus.com.
(it's for the VSTi version)

I totally agree with this. I have a Virus, but its not like it has some button on which I push and I have an instant trance hit. Its just another tool, and indeed you can find the virus back in most trance/dance producers' studios, but so can the JP80X0 or Novations. I'm following this topic purely interested in its outcome, but I'm already glad to see its not becoming some shoot out like previous topics containing the contagious word 'virus'cleverr1 wrote:Agreed.
The original Virus riff was behind a load of fx too, so I was attempting the sound of the original.
What I find interesting with all of the postings here is that there are clear differences in the sounds, but IMHO the alternatives sound just as usable and convincing in the context of a mix.
I'd love a Virus C, but not enough to shell out all that cash when there's cheap/free VSTIs that can do the job.

I guess its Synth1 with chorus (the flams on the short envelopes give the chorus away).D-Fusion wrote:Ok here is my go at the Virus arp (I think i nailed it pretty good)

in both of your examples the attack sounds too immediate, and it sounds like each note is the same - no free running oscillators?
d-fusion: you have a flanger but it may not be tweaked correctly. The phaser is much better in gsoto's clip.

Yep i know, but there are'nt many tweak options in Minitera so it is hard to set it up correctly
I think i have to try another synth coz Minitera is to limited.

D-Fusion, thanks! Your example is pretty good too. I'll post the preset later, no time right now.
I'm using a fast attack for amplitude and slow for filter. It's very difficult to get the envelopes right, I tried with slower values for both attacks but I end loosing the punch. I'll see what I can do.
Xhip has free running oscillators; maybe I should add some "randomness".tony tony chopper wrote:in both of your examples the attack sounds too immediate, and it sounds like each note is the same - no free running oscillators?
