for me it was quiet easy
to pick my favs...
since 1/3rd of the stuff didn't work good enough,
or crashed my system with 100% cpu-load.
Anna - does not work
Grizzly - does not work
MST-VS-1000R - does not work
Sane-FM - does not work
Tonespace - needs Net, which i never used yet
and some of the FX were too much CPU hungry
---
to be fair, i splitted my votes into 3 areas:
i picked:
2x FX, 1x stand-alone app, and 2x synths.
even as there were more "real good things"
than i had votes left.
the best FX are:
EQ22
Drum Mic Positioner
Zombie Fungus
Fire (cpu hungry)
videoVST
..and a few more
the best synths are:
balthor grand
mini vyn (but should have a 20% smaller gui)
superrubbish
TripleCheese
..and a few more
best stand alone app:
lunchbox

Which host were you running them in? I've heard of smaller problems with Grizzly. But I haven't yet heard of anyone not being able to get it to run at all... Strange

@majken,
i use a P4,2.4GHz/1024ram/FL6.08
grizzly bugs:
when i load grizzly into FL
and i push play - it freezes FL
for 10 seconds then the CPU-load goes up to 70%
for a short time,
then it starts to play, and the CPU goes down to 7-10%
while it plays the sound..etc.
and
i use a laptop with 1024x768 screen-res.
so the gui is too big to use it anyways.

i think the solution would be...
to make a cut-down version with less features
and a 20% smaller gui.

I've already begun work on a smaller version of the Mini, the keyboard is gone allowing it to fit vertically into a 1024x768, but I need a revamp of the artwork (knobs, selectors etc.) to get it to fit horizontally. But I've also modified the DSP slightly, got rid of the 'analog' portions that made it seem wonky. Basically I did this to coincide with many folks saying it sounded more digital than analog. I also fixed the pitch knobs to go in whole-note increments, so tuning is a touch easier.
Also, in reference to one very big suggestion in the thread named after my synth
, I've modified the LFO to run either per-timbre or free-run, so be happy about it.
One last thing, note to spacedad:
I played with SuperRubbish for a while, and when I have more time I'm gonna put it to better use, that's gonna fit rather nicely in some of my electronic glitch stuff.
Also I worked up this patch, almost by accident, but it's gotta be one of the most wicked sounding basses to ever be burped out of a synth without postFX or the such. Personally I love the thing, for being 'rubbish' it's got oodles of character.

rubbish and mini vyn are my fave synths in the competition. however, i only had room for 1 synth on my list. i'll be using 4 of the effects way more than i'll be using ANY synth

very glad to hear it!Chris Roberson wrote:it's gotta be one of the most wicked sounding basses to ever be burped out of a synth without postFX or the such. Personally I love the thing, for being 'rubbish' it's got oodles of character.
i liked yours too,i got great noises out of it,very quickly.
it's kinda opposite to my gui,but i kinda liked it being so big, seemed more like you were on a real synth.
i've not had that many problems,eXT/winXP,SP2,no soundcard(asio4all).
FL seems to be giving a lot of people trouble, with it's 'quirky' ways.
last nite i was mostly using;
repeatler(really nice,i liked that)
zombie fungus(wicked stuff,wierd gui,great upredictable noises)
rezon8('kin loverly, that's got to be in my channelstrip, permo!reztastic)
sane fm(gave me a loverly sound straight out the box, nice)(but i must explore more extensively)
so a good night last night,no probs at all(cept uloop, which sadly is the only one that's been unusable so far.
just a few more to go...

I love rubbish. That VU-meter alone, plus controls for crackle, wobble and faulty gets my vote. Pondular is fun to watch, but for sound my favourite synth (so far) is without doubt tb_ritual. The SUB on it is just awesome! And I've always liked those guis.
SANE FM is nice, but I prefer VSTs...
PushTec seems very useful, but why the freq steps?
I've had some spectacular crashes while testing, but hey...

cuz it's easier not to get lost this way, but we also included a function to bypass the steps cuz we knew not everybody would enjoy them. see the manual or the about box for a cheat sheetHovmod wrote:PushTec seems very useful, but why the freq steps?

----Well, with the final countdown at the top of the pages here, I think it's about time. Everyone should be proud of their entry, well, assuming they did their best and it works ya know. But yeah, ultimately, different types of entries will appeal to differeent types of users/voters. Ya just gotta get the word out and most importantly - stay positive and bug people to try your entry.spacedad wrote:whadayathink?liars&ashes wrote: It's the last week for voting, ya better get out and promote it all ya can til it's over.
