...but excuse my ignorance; why the link to http://www.lavryengineering.com/index_html.html ?
For the papers he wrote. I have been looking into this topic further as any way to add a little more polish to the mix is valuable, I'm getting heaps of good info in the thread but wanted some hard copys to cross reference.

I just thought that the papers were relevant to the thread. I found them very useful in terms of bit depth, sample rate etc but still have to read more.

Heh,I guess I don't know really mate, I just thought I found a good bunch of info that people may find helpful, so I thought I would share

It seems like the guy has built his business on this part of the process.

Just sharing the love, the only way I know how
:D

Cheers

I had a look on your local Proaudiocanada.com (nice site btw)

Heres the listings.
The "LavryBlue" Conversion System M.AD824 2 CHANNEL A/D CONVERTER $1999 (from site)or $2499

The "LavryBlue" Conversion System M.AD824 2 CHANNEL A/D D/A CONVERTER $2879 / $3599

The "LavryBlue" Conversion System M.AD824 2 CHANNEL D/A CONVERTER $1549 / $1799

And it goes on to the 4ch AD & DA for around the $2500 mark

Could only find the blue series not the other D-A / A-D

Definitely big boys toys though...way out of my leuge for the time being.

Go to gearslutz mastering forum, there's some prism and lavry talk. Mostly for hot-roding your signal.

I mean..Its madness thinking what this gear could do to my muddy poorly recorded 16bit samples :D

jokes, but yeah, probably better to simply try and understand the princables in the meantime.

yes. he's only the most prominent figure in AD/DA design in the whole world and his articles, research and white papers (when you skip the covert marketing) are mandatory reading on the subject. He has especially enlightened opinions on the +96khz issue.

and yes Lavry DACs are considered the best in the world.

Post

Well...goddamn. :D

Post

heh, ummm yeah!! thats why I posted the link! :D

haha, nah, actually didnt know that kingston, but I was just happy to find some further reading on the topic, It's good to know his products for when I'm rich and famous 8)

Those Lavry papers are a really great read. If Mr. Lavry is even half as as good at making digital converters as he is at explaining their complexities in such a clear and easily digestible manner, then I'm sure his products are top-notch.'
