...any new information? There seems not to be more infos or demos on steinbergs site yet. Just taking into consideration what is presented there as audio demos HS is not what I need... but probably this impression is wrong just because the demos are as they are. Without detailed information buying software can end up in a huge surprise at best... :?

Yes the demos are not so good.

If you follow this whole topic and the topics over at cubase.net there have been plenty user demos posted.

I have my doubts. Things like East West Colossus have been out for a long time and Steinberg always seems to have last year's sounds to my ears.

Yeah, I was shocked too. After searching the thread, this is what they mean:

We're supposed to have it in stock in two weeks. The normal version will be $249 and the Educational Edition will be $129, and they'll both be in the 'Group Buy' section of our site (meaning 15% off with the 'group' coupon :)).
So it's a special price at JRR Shop (in the USA).
hi does group take 10% or 15% off. I was expecting 15, but I am getting 10%
thanks

Halion Sonic is no EW Colossus.......it is sooooo much more. Great job Yamaha-Steiny! When it comes to software ROMplers, HS wins hands down IMO. I do not miss my Motif at all now.

Post

Acoustic instrument wise, I think HS does a good job of replacing the Motif but... Synthetic sounds are not quite as well covered.. yet. What is there is not bad at all, but it's still missing the shear number of pads, drones, electric kits and bell sounds. So, it may not be time to sell of the motif just yet.

Post

you know.....I personally didn't notice the lack of pads, drones, and bell sounds in HS, but you are correct. Since I own Omnisphere and Alchemy, which both excel in those types of sounds, it didn't bother me I guess. Good point, though.

Post

It's not like I have a deficit in sounds. Lots of other plugins to keep me covered, but when there's a new toy to try out, I tend to try to do everything with it.

Post

How does the synthesis section compare to Hypersonice 2's? Can you chain 16 synths together per patch?

new user review, not from me:

I'm demoing now. I like the sound of it. but it seems to be a
pita, to edit. You have to load a program or a layer in order to edit.
Is there a velocity to volume setting some where?

Post

Like some of the sounds. Biggest gripe is is an absolute pain to edit/tweak. With a better UI might have a go at it.

I'm planning on buying Halion Sonic this month. Looking forward to it as I'd be able to use Hypersonic 2 again along with it. It would be great if Steinberg released some sort of Hypersonic library for Halion Sonic.
