Making and saving your own combis/multis would probably be a good walkthrough...

For those not familiar with the idea, it's a lot like splits and layers on the old hardware keyboard synths. You can load up to 16 instruments into SampleTank at once. Each instrument part can have its own effects settings, and then you can apply even more effects to the whole thing.

They're things you really could do yourself - just settings rather than new sounds - but having an assortment of pre-made ones can help give you ideas and act as good starting points.

There are some free ones for Miroslav in the FreeSoundz section of the esoundz site, and as noted, there's a collection of them for sale for Sonik Synth. Using today's coupon code, you can get them for something like three bucks.

No, DavyAch it is...most unexpected, but very welcome.

Thanks you kindly, good sir!

Reminder for those who aren't flipping back through past pages of this thread...

The CINCO15 coupon code expires today. That code will take $15 off your esoundz order. So for today only, you can use that coupon code to get this group buy for just $84.

The latest update from Squids puts us at 219 purchases. We're already at the 2 bonus selection level, and the odds are pretty strong that we'll all end up getting at least 3 bonus libraries out of this deal. (Yes, I bought in too - even though I already had all five instruments. I have a nephew with a birthday coming up. We'll get him a UserID on the IK site, and he'll be getting his own Sonik Synth 2 license as a present.)

If you have questions about the instruments or bonus libraries, please ask! I'll answer any questions the best I can.

Thanks Torgo for all the info....it's very clear and presented very well!!

Is there a way to use the scroll wheel on the mouse to navigate through Sample Tank or any other VSTi's from IK? I currently have to use the up/down arrows to go through 16GB's of sounds which really is a pain....

Thanks,

No worries... it was only one point I think, but still. I'm checking them out now; if they seem like a cool thing I will likely get the Moog ones too (and use yer name again!) - but I'm not sure whether I can use the Tron ones as I don't have SampleTron but rather Squids Tron plus the ST extras, so I don't know whether they'll work. Anyone have any idea?

The mouse wheel? I don't think so.

BUT... that's a scroll bar on the right side of the list of sounds, in between those up and down arrows. Just click on the shaded part and drag it up or down. Much faster than the mouse wheel.

Did that do the trick?

This will give you mousewheel support:

Works great (although some people have a hard time getting it to work). It works well for me.

I'm not at my DAW, but will test out asseca's patch (again). I've just installed a new OS on my sys so hopefully it'll work this time. (I couldn't get it to work on my XP drive). I was hoping there's some new mousewheel support since I tried it awhile back....

Put in my two cents... er, my 16,800 cents. Had a little checkout issue though. First purchase went through without a hitch. Second one kept giving me grief using a normal card, had to go through Paypal. Weird and annoying, but ultimately still worked. If it keeps up I'll put in a ticket. Now off to pillage the Cinco de Mayo sale... weeeeeee!

You'd definitely need SampleTron - the sounds the combis would refer to wouldn't exist.

Check out mine for Sonik Synth from KVR as well. Not fantastic, but lotta heart!

Actually I can't get the Sonik Synth ones working at all so far - either in the native engine or in SampleTank (they provide the files for both, which are supposed to work when you drag them into the respective folder, but I'm having no joy). This makes me reticent to spend even a couple of dinero on the others. Does anyone know if the Tron and/or Moog ones provide SampleTank versions as well?

Don't know what your setup is, but mine are unzipped in the following folder on Win XP: C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\Sonik Synth 2\Presets, and have always worked first time.

Hope you get sorted.

YUP - thanks for that (even though I actually figured it out on my own probably at the same time you were typing that)... I was putting them in the IK folders in my Sample Libraries folder which is on a separate drive. I hadn't tweaked that the engines still save and load presets from the main program files location. So that's an easy fix. Still don't know whether the Tron one will include SampleTank presets but I can always try the Moog one first, since I have that engine, and see what it's like. Of course, even if they are provided they might not work with the Squids patches as they may have a different file structure or whatever. Anyway, nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose. I'll have a look for your combi's here on KVR - where do they live? (If you feel like saving me the 30 seconds it would probably take me to track them down 8) )

If you look at Banks and Patches and search under Sonik Synth -its the only one there.

Glad your sorted out anyway.

Don't think the Tron combis will be of any use without SampleTron.
