Thanks - it's a good idea, but it can't work. The glide/pitchbend/vibrato section has to stay where it is because it's also visible when the keyboard is shown.OutCider wrote:Lovely. Sent an email about it to your support address.
I guess it's synth month because U-HE is finishing the new Hive synth

I like the style.
You give it a 3d look but the lightning and shades do not match up.
The almost white part of the hexagon tells me the light is coming from the top left but the osc/filter panels on the right has a shadow pointing the other way.
The panels itself has no lightning on them (only a slight blueish glow on the hexagon side (light from the center panel?) and dark gradient in the same direction).
Left panels have no shadow but the rest looks like the lightning is coming from the top.
edit: Looking at it longer/closer the left side of the hexagon is the part jumping out. Think if you make that the same intensity as the right side (and match the rest of the shades) it looks better.

True, some of the drop shadows don't correlate. Looks like the knobs have shadows directly beneath, perhaps align everything with that. e.g. Light the top segment of the hexagon.Mace404 wrote:I like the style.

Same here, though I think it looks very good.Frantz wrote:
I would prefer a plainer, "boring" GUI that presents the controls as simply as possible. Still looking forward to trying it anyway.
But I also strongly prefer the designs used by companies like Ableton or Valhalla. Would love to have all my synths with that rather 'abstract' looks.

So much space is wasted! So many details that have nothing to do with the parameters/structure. I think the u-he team have gone overboard with the blink
Yeah, at least put some diamonds in there, they have nice shapes and look good too! E.g., the panel could be made of diamonds, with blue light shining through for the parameters.

Agree. It's not to my taste. There's an implied presumption of a level of superficiality in the customer that's rather patronising. What happened to less is more?Frantz wrote:I'm not crazy about the GUI. Dark with blue light, weird spaces, fake wires, odd shapes. It looks like it belongs on the Klingon bridge.

Turns out, less was actually less. And by continuously decreasing, at some point, it blinked out of existence.hakey wrote:Agree. It's not to my taste. I agree with your point, though. I'm slowly coming to realize how much all these small details and shades and lights are actually making it harder to find what you're looking for.
Used to think ValhallaDSP, Madronalabs, Ableton weren't even trying, turns out, it's easier to focus with flat GUIs.
Doesn't mean I don't appreciate stylish design, I do, but it keeps all that precious energy flowing to the visual cortex instead of the region where my music accidents happen...
