More details on this please.
1. The only way to edit the start of a sample is to insert a slice marker, an ok solution but if you insert another for the end then looping is inactive. This make auditioning large sample files clumsy. A separate start and end would her better.

2. Possible solution, if you treat the selection in a similar way to a DAW selecting an audio file. Have an option to play only selection and also to extend either side of the selection by holding shift, this way the selection can be fine tuned. A lot of audio editors do it this way.

This might be a nice tool to save key (to me) patches from Alchemy and other 'abandoned' plugins once they stop working natively.

Plus just, in general, really big CPU-usage Pad patches.

Still pondering this one as the featureset is interesting and the price is nice.. but sort of concerned, in a couple of years, it will be just like Alchemy -- no longer developed.

What is your take on this, George? Is this project for the long haul?

I've just tried the BlissBeta4Demo.zip install (the one including the MSVCP packages). Using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Comments:
-- the small "select language" window popped up underneath some others, so I thought that nothing was happening,
-- looking at the install dialogues it looks like both plug-ins are installed in the same location (with different names?); conventionally I install 64-bit and 32-bit plug-ins into different locations and they have the same name,
-- anyway after some going backwards and forwards, I opted for the 32-bit plug-in only,
-- ending up with these options:

-- the "Finishing install" stage took quite a while, I thought it was stuck,
--msvcp140 was installed in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (it is only 430 KB, so I wonder why the package was over 13(?)MB).
-- I am not all at keen on getting the ...\Documents\discoDSP\Bliss folder; I would much prefer to be able to choose the destination (like u-he does it, with a shortcut in the plug-in folder, pointing to the data folder).

I then ran Reaper, and got the following error:

Not speaking for George of course and have no affiliation with the company, when dealing with relatively small/mid size developers, have at a look at their track record for releasing updates to their other products, frequency on boards answering questions, support answers etc. Nothing is for certain these days :D

Bliss is very good and the potential to be knockout. Thats what you buy into with betas, check the demo first, I did and it was definitely worth jumping in at the price of entry.

I also believe in supporting the smaller devs, they tend to innovate and take risks more often.
disco DSP, UHE, Xfer, Klanghelm,New Sonic Arts, sknote etc all create far more interesting products than the big guys.

I appreciate it but I'm looking for George to respond... seeing as he completely ditched Highlife. I'm only looking to buy products that are designed to be on the market (developed) for a long time. And not just developed today, ditched tomorrow.

Ok thanks!

Bliss should be safe for the next 20 years or so :)

Against what I was guessing, I think 32-bit DLL requires 64-bit VC2015 redistributable on your system. Can you download and install to see if it works? http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... st.x64.exe

And after all, Bliss is what Highlife 2 would have been, and even more. From its ashes it was born...

More or less concerned that 3, 4, 5 years down the road VST format changes in some fashion (VST3.5 VST4 ?) and I am unable to sample from newer plugins as a result.. or worse.. even load Bliss directly.

Looks like George isn't going to ditch this plugin though and it will be developed for many many years.. that is inviting news for me. :)

I reran the BlissDemo installer and selected the 64-bit VST only (as the pop-up says "This does not uninstall" the 32-bit edition). The 64-bit MSVCP140 was installed in C:\Windows\System32.

I get the same error.

-------------------------------------------
Edit:
And I get the same error with the 64-bit BlissDemo VST

Also, what is that dll file anyway?

This is apparently a: Visual Studio 2015- related error and file. It's used to develop programs for windows. Seems a number of people are having issues with programs that use the 2015 version. I didn't have success using the beta 4 installer that includes the runtimes. I got bliss 4 to work by manually installing the files from the MS links provided in this thread. I installed both the 32 & 64 bit versions.

Oh well :( I've rolled back to the installer without the redistributable and we will consider going back to compile with VS2010 in Beta 5. Too many issues for now.

Post

Yeah definately it's creating tons of issues for a lot of users. It's a real pity cause vs2015 compiler produces a noticeable faster binary, not taking into account it is more standard compliant...
How much mess microsoft creates with such stuff is astonishing btw.

Post

OK, I'll uninstall for the moment and wait for the next beta. Or is there a better way to proceed?

Is it possible to uninstall those MSVCP140 (and other?) files that the Bliss demo installer installed? if so, how?
