You will never find one, unless (or even if) you go for the very expensive packages. For example, the entire Special Edition Orchestra by VSL costs € 1.545,00. However, the Vol. 1 (€ 295,00 only) already allows you to achieve rather impressive results.TheoM wrote: I still haven't found an all in one orch i am happy with.. i want something that can cover epic style music as WELL as pop/edm strings.
Berlin Strings Basic costs € 840,00. EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Plus costs (list price) € 998,00, although it is currently in promotion by a bargain price of € 449,50. Sure the mentioned options are among the best available, but even with these, you will not get covered in every style (probably, the classic symphonic orchestral style is the one that is better covered by these). If you want pop strings, you have to check for libraries specifically conceived for pop strings. The same applies to what is usually defined as epic.
BUT (and this is a big but) In spite of all that I said, careful sequencing programming can produce great (really great) results using just one of the above mentioned.
However, to achieve that, and more than anything else, you have to understand how each instrument of the orchestra works (and I mean the different playing techniques), and how the orchestral families work, the different articulations and how and when they are used, etc. Basically, you must be comfortable reading an orchestral score, and be able to reproduce it in a MIDI sequenced file using an orchestra library. Listen to the examples recorded in the VSL site. I think you will be impressed with what can be achieved with just Special Edition Vol. 1. Of course this also implies knowing very well the library chosen, and the play engine in use.
After all, Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Schubert, all use basically the same orchestra as Beethoven. Yet, when we hear their music, they sound very different from each other - sometimes epic, sometimes intimate, sometimes popular. It's a matter of knowing how to use the orchestra.

Ruling out Play opts you out of perhaps the best bang-for-the-buck orchestra library currently available. And the current version of Play is quite stable. You are perhaps influenced by what happened a couple of years ago. Things are different now, IMO.TheoM wrote:i won't ever touch a vsl product - so that's out.
i won't touch play - no resale, bugfest.
it has to be kontakt based OR ST based but i was asking about miroslav2 specifically, thanks.
(i trust aria engine as well fwiw)
Also, ruling out VSL opts you out one of the al-in-all references in orchestral libraries. Aria engine only options I know are the Garritan libraries, but, although quite good, IMO, they are not in the same league as EWQL, VSL and Berlin. In Kontakt, my only choice would be Orchestral Tools Berlin (didn't try the recently launched NI line of Symphonic libraries, at least yet).

As a long-time user and fan of MP1, I was looking forward to upgrading at an introductory price. But it will cost me $299 because my copy isn't old enough. I can't afford it. To those who can, enjoy.

Thanks a lot for your offerdsan@mail.com wrote:PM sent teacue, in case you're watching this thread.teacue wrote:Quel dommage!Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I wouldn't count on it since there isn't one now and I have no information about one to share.teacue wrote:@ Peter - IK Multimedia
Could you please tell if there will be a demo of "Miroslav Philharmonik 2" before December 31st?(What a pity)
I would really like to know how the strings attack behaves.
I almost never could use the strings in version 1 because a fast attack is always combined first with a volume decrease, only after the attack phase the volume increases to his normal level.
This behaviour makes it difficult for me to use Miroslav 1 strings.
I am wondering if version 2 inherits from this behaviour.
The audio demos do not clearly show for me how the attack behaves.
PM sent.
Best regards

Didn't know there was an ownership longevity restraint?Gonga wrote:As a long-time user and fan of MP1, I was looking forward to upgrading at an introductory price. But it will cost me $299 because my copy isn't old enough. I can't afford it. To those who can, enjoy.

If you have a non-NFR/promo copy of Miroslav Philharmonik, the upgrade price is $199.99... The only place where your registration date matters is with regard to the bonus JamPoints. Hope that clarifies things, thank you.Gonga wrote:As a long-time user and fan of MP1, I was looking forward to upgrading at an introductory price. Yes Debate is always a good thing if we are discussing the features and quality of the offering, while in the same breath not wanting something for nothing, no?
How do you know who have MP1 or is a serious potential customers and who falls in your "bunch of complaining whine bag cheapskates" category?
Where do you read that people wanted it for free or like you wrote "something for nothing"?
"Me personally, I'll be waiting for this to be sold for $50 in a group buy someday."
“i have to give IK Multimedia some credit... it is funny how they get individuals to buy the same samples/patches/material over and over again...”
“I bought the upgrade to Albion ONE for less recently, seems like a good decision.”
“I'm pretty sure that jampoints are not possible during presale.”
“Well, IF I had your money I may not think it steep…”
“but only judging because of the audio demos, it sounds a bit cheap.”
(Kinda like these comments IMO ^.....)
Simple, you can read into a cheap skate's post a mile away if you are gifted as I am, or not... And it doesn't take much effort either...^^
BTW- Im very happy about the Jam Points being available for use in this purchase BTW- Thanks!

It is quite awesome! Loving that the old Phil1 instruments haven't just been left alone, but have now been endowed with keyswitching as well (The old English Horn kick's the new one's bell).
On the down side, quite saddened by the disappearance of the alto flute from Phil1. Was really hoping to see an updated, key-switchable version, but no.

Well I have almost every orchestral library there is.
And now I have one more. With my leftover jam points and credits, it was, well let's just say, inexpensive.
Will put it through the motions this weekend.

The only reason I am not contemplating updating is because of the horrendously slow load times of new ST3 instruments in Sampletank 3. I can only assume the same issue will occur with the bigger, better Philharmonik patches. It's a real turn off for me. I literally have time to make coffee and take a bathroom break before some of the ST3 instruments load up (eg: Alan Parson Imperial Grand piano, Billy Cobham drums . Huge patches in Kontakt load up in no time. Same for BFD3. Actually considering getting the BFD version of Billy Cobham just so that I don't have to deal with the wait when I am loading this kit in ST3. It's really the only reason that I am put off. Otherwise I would be all over this...

Sorry to hear you are having this experience. I assume you reported it to support to see if there's any issue that could be resolved to have the instruments load quickly? They may have some tips and tricks as well as troubleshooting to see if this can be improved (and if a global issue with certain instruments they will work with the dev team to resolve).pheeleep wrote:The only reason I am not contemplating updating is because of the horrendously slow load times of new ST3 instruments in Sampletank 3.
