Factory is fantastic as well.

It's become my favorite VST synth. Just seems to give me something new and worthwhile whenever I go to it, yet at the same time never feels too experimental or unapproachable.jsp1979 wrote:It's Sugar Bytes sale time this week. What's the verdict on Aparillo months later? Still enjoying it?

I'm still enjoying this synth - fun to make sounds with and you can get surprising results quickly. I really like the polyphonic resonator which takes it into phys-mod territory.

Absolutely. Not a single disappointment yet, really one of most unusual sounding synths.jsp1979 wrote:It's Sugar Bytes sale time this week. What's the verdict on Aparillo months later? Still enjoying it?
(Btw did not tried Factory yet, need will check)
Need say, not so impressed by Obscurium, though maybe because just was short check. Though i liked idea by itself.

Hi guys,
I am interested in this synth due to its experimentational values and I am "addicted" to FM anyway. I just wonder about modulation sources and destinations. It seems to have no modulation matrix and only 2 LFOs what I consider way too little.
Are there more hidden options to sculpture every parameter of the synth over time by a seperate and programmable modulation source?
I like to hear what you think of how lively and "everchanging" you can program a patch. Thank you in advance. Cheers

I rely on the Orbiter for creating complex/evolving sounds.nichttuntun wrote:...It seems to have no modulation matrix and only 2 LFOs what I consider way too little.

This vid explains it really well:

imho that's not what I think this is for. I think it's more built for fast sound design and musical playing, i.e. if you're writing music with a bunch of notes instead of holding one down for an evolving drone. Not that there's anything wrong with the latter, it's just maybe better done with a modular-type approach perhaps? Aparillo only has one mod source per param as far as I can work out. But it isn't hugely limiting, it just lets you get on with writing tunes imho. I actually tend to use Aparillo more in poly mode for unconventional pad and keyb sounds, it can sound amazingly organic/murky/hazy, very inspiring for new ideas.nichttuntun wrote:Hi guys,

Hi, I bought last night and played and played and played...progtronic wrote:I rely on the Orbiter for creating complex/evolving sounds.nichttuntun wrote:...It seems to have no modulation matrix and only 2 LFOs what I consider way too little...and programmable modulation source?...
Of course there are synths with deeper modulation options but I am very pleased that every parameter can have its own source and I already got astonishing results with a lot going on even if one note is permanently held. I like the 16 voice architecture. In addition the Orbiter is one of the most amazing modulation feature I know of so far. There you can make everchanging sounds because you can record enormously long trails and all "planets" are seperately modulated.
In conclusion I totally love that synth. It surprises me.
Only thing is, I didn´t find a way to make the Orbiter-trail playing legato. Every new key hit starts the trail anew from the starting point. Is there a way to change this?
@moschimoschi,
thank you. I think it can provide both things

Obscurium is complex but good - it can host other synths and gets very interesting then. eg hosting Kaivo or Chromaphone and then using the Obscurium modulation is pretty goodc_voltage wrote:Absolutely. For me complex is in 99% of the cases a good thing. Sounds interesting.woggle wrote:Obscurium is complex but good - it can host other synths and gets very interesting then. eg hosting Kaivo or Chromaphone and then using the Obscurium modulation is pretty goodc_voltage wrote:Absolutely. Yes, i knew about hosting ability. Well, will need to be done second approach later. Perhaps i really miss something.woggle wrote:Obscurium is complex but good - it can host other synths and gets very interesting then. eg hosting Kaivo or Chromaphone and then using the Obscurium modulation is pretty goodc_voltage wrote:Absolutely. Obscurium's really fun, though I think it's workflow really appeals more to "pick a patch" and tweak (and the patches are quite decent and varied). It's a tough synth to get going from "init" 'cause there are a lot of variables and they are quite hidden (for each sequenced parameter, such as filter cutoff, fm, etc., you need to open a little window to set min/max, mod amounts, etc.).
Not that it's a flaw (would be really difficult to fit that on one screen), just means it's not for everyone.
Aparillo looks like my cup of tea, especially at this price.
