So....no way to demo Cubase Artist without buying a Steinberg specific piece of hardware first(the e licensor). Wow. Lol.
I was considering picking it up for the MIDI functionality, which looks to be quite a step up from Reaper overall, but if I can't even demo the software without paying a fee that seems like a non-starter. I wonder how many people over the years have not bought Cubase or Nuendo for this reason vs. how many just threw caution to the wind and bought the product anyway. I can't see many people buying the licensor just to run a demo if they don't own other Steinberg software. Bizarre and crappy way to sell software.

Anyone else remember when the box contained 3 inches of manuals?rich_h wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 11:46 am Having just taken delivery of a Cubase Pro 10 retail box I can confirm that the only thing in the box is the dongle and the activation code.
Wait, let me rephrase that...

Hmm. That seems a little odd, but it's better than nothing. Is there anything missing in terms of MIDI from Artist vs. Elements that would really be missed?

I have just bought the Pro version after demoing it with Elements, which was a whopping 15GB download. I am hoping that the workflow is very similar. For me the bit I wanted to try out was the arranger track which is included in Elements and turned out to be super easy.Straight2Vinyl wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 2:10 pm

I don't think it's possible for any shop to have it "in stock" as, as has been mentioned, the Crossgrade first has to be authorized by Steinberg. They can have the box in stock (it's exactly the same as for the non-crossgrade version, I think) and they can sell it to you right away, however they are not allowed to ship it to you, I think.Bombadil wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 12:59 pm I just got off the phone with a sales dude at another shop. Most probably the guy from the shop either had no clue or was a little disingenuous towards you in order to make a sale, I think.

Is that where you purchased it?
Says "in stock within 1-2 weeks"
B.t.w.: did you get what I tried to explain to you?

that comes to mind immediately.
it doesn't have Time Warp, so the features of 1) warping the timeline and no part or event moves, ie., you're making timeline conform to extant recordings or entries, or 2) warping the timeline and making some or all events warp are 'missing'. However normal behavior of changing the tempo resembles 2), only more broadly effecting (IE: warping time is at a specific location, this node to the next node).
No MIDI inserts or sends, ie., no MIDI effects.
No List editor
No MPE support
it's pretty cut-down

no comping, either.
I had a good hard look at the comparison page, and given what capabilities I have with Logic, Cubase Pro was the only choice for me. IF I do it. I still have time to change my mind, and a part of me thinks I must be out of my mind to be doing this.

Don't use the form, scroll a bit further and there is an email address (mailorder@andertons.co.uk I think) - I sent my screenshot to that address with the order number in the subject immediately I raised the order.dellboy wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 1:05 pmI have ordered from the same place.rich_h wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 12:49 pm I ordered my crossgrade from Andertons (UK) on Friday morning, emailed them my proof of eligibility shortly after raising the order, and it was delivered today.
Definitely sounds like YMMV!
Did you have to wait until they contacted you ?
There website contact page had nowhere to attach a PDF.

That is where I initially ordered from. As I said, I am not going to be here when they say they'll have it. In contrast, if I wanted to buy the non-cgrade version, they have it in stock. Someone above said that the cgrade was also unavailable at Steinberg's own page. Have I missed something?jens wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 2:48 pm Is that where you purchased it?

I bought a retail boxed crossgrade for Cubase 9 Pro online and was not required to provide any proof.jens wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 2:19 pmI don't think it's possible for any shop to have it "in stock" as, as has been mentioned, the Crossgrade first has to be authorized by Steinberg. As the code for the software is in the sealed box Steinberg can't link an authorised purchase to a particular user so maybe they leave it to the dealer just to do a superficial check on eligibility meaning they don't pass the info back to Steinberg!
They can change their procedure at any time of course.

I had to provide proof to the retailer in the form of my iTunes receipt for LPX. I asked specifically whether or not I had to provide it to them, or to Steinberg directly. I had to give it to the retailer.
