I tried to like the new Bitwig browser but it screws up basic searching. I can’t hit b type the name of a plug-in and always get that plug-in at the top of the list, often it’s at the bottom etc. It will start with presets from that plug-in or one not related at all. I have yet to make friends with it. It’s crazy to me how the tables have turned in less than a year? Ableton stepped up their game and Bitwig dropped a deuce.SLiC wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 8:16 pm I would like to be able to load or switch collections in a project, start with a global, switch to mastering collection, swich to synth collection etc- keep it all neat and on one screen- if that collections list get to long and you have to start scrolling it will get messy. Also keep it simple! I used to love the Bitwig Pop Up Browser and now (since the redesign) it has way too many options for me...more isn't always better and a few limitations help keep you focused!

Yup- It was definitely an 'if it 'aint broke don't fix it' moment for BWS!machinesworking wrote: Wed Nov 22, 2023 6:59 amI tried to like the new Bitwig browser but it screws up basic searching. And that’s why the “uncalled” and “ain’t broke” was so forcefully implemented?

I haven't kept up in the thread here, but I just have to say that Ableton 12 is an update I'm extremely excited about. They're fixing pretty much all the major gripes I've had about Ableton for the past several years. The piano roll was such a weak point for me with Ableton, and now it's getting a plethora of great features. And the ability to see the mixer in arrangement view? I have wanted that for such a long time!

I know it’s been beaten to death, but the improvements to the browser are massive, tagging and searching, plus the fact that as far as I know Ableton is the first DAW to implement AI search into their browser. Logic does their Drummer with AI but the browser can’t catalog by AI learning.
I haven’t got ahold of the beta yet so I could be complaining about how it’s implemented soon enough but I kinda doubt it, it looks like it’s well thought out. As long as you can batch tag AI searched similarities etc.

I don't think it's AI in the browser. In the SonicState video the bloke explained that it works via tags:machinesworking wrote: Wed Nov 22, 2023 9:47 pm I know it’s been beaten to death, but the improvements to the browser are massive, tagging and searching, plus the fact that as far as I know Ableton is the first DAW to implement AI search into their browser. No really. He says that if you tag your own sounds, it will work with that as well, but not because of tags.Blaster wrote: Wed Nov 22, 2023 11:53 pmI don't think it's AI in the browser. Yeah it's not made clear on the Sonicstate video but people with the beta have cleared it up, there is an AI or neural network based search engine built into Live 12, the first I've seen in a DAW. It sucks, because Sononym is on sale right now, and I think I can't afford not to spend 50$ for what might end up being a redundant third party search engine with AI. It's on sale until Dec. 8th so hopefully I end up on the beta before then so I can make my choice informed by how well Abletons engine works.

Based on Tag would be a mess...
I think by Dec. 8th it's possible you get on the beta. You need Dec. 7th...
