 :hihi:

Have you looked at the guides from www.adbe.org ? They're a good way to get started.

one thing tracktion has done to me is hate all other apps with a timeline/arrange screen...

i keep thinking that i can just rightclick->drag the background to zoom in for a moment to do a precise edit, and then zoom out in the same way...

why doesn't every program let you do this?

Those guides are better than nothing. Thanks

ehrm, don't you forget that Live I still can't imagine that it's not as fast and intuitive or even more to use than tracktion.

Plus knowing your apps gives one superpowers!, I can move in cubase,fruity,live... at lightspeed man!

proof, I made my last 8/9 tracks in Nov. in Cubase!

I think that's fast 1 month almost 9 tracks, finish! well I can mix all forever but once in a while we need to say stop too!

Hey are you nuts, I can zoom in and out in sx with two bloddy keys all over that's all about knowing your app man, take (G,H) in cubase and zoom, hell, and does tracktion provide keyboard layouts? So this means you can actually assign any key you like to do this and much more if you want!

don't even need to touch the mouse or can concentrate to do other stuff with the mouse!

Also, what's standard about calling every VST plugin from instruments to reverb a "filter?"
originally I guess Jules did not intend to support vstis, so filter was as good a label as any.
and after all it's just a f**king name... :?

I mean: once you realize what a 'filter' is - who is narrow-minded enough to care about how it is called? :?

Jules could call it Djangadangadengedeng - as soon as you know what a Djangadangadengedeng is you can use it as good as with any other name - or do I miss something? :?
Or we could get around the name game problem by calling everything by numbers. Let's see, filters can be 48 for a start. As in "Damn it, Jens, do have to bury that song in 48s all over the place? Oh ya, 27 (volume) that too, will ya?"
that's a really lame analogy as for most people numbers are completely abstract so that it is hard for them to keep one from the other.

Names however, even foreign ones, aren't that abstract.

For a super-brain like mine it would of course not be a big deal to have only numbers instead of names... :hihi:

Hmm... Reaktor don't seem to happy to read my automation data from Tracktion.
Also -even weirder- adjusting note velocity in the sequencer will sometimes have the effect similar to adjusting cutoff frequency?! I swear it, it's not just my ears decieving me!

-I think the routing is set up correctly, and automating the same Reaktor setup works fine with Orion

Does Traction have a problem sending automation data to the right parameter, or is it just me being the prime fumbler? Anyone had similar problems?
This concept of "Luv" confuses and infuriates us!

you could, of course, be using an ensemble with velocity-sensitive filter cutoff?

@869 - just because you KNOW your app and can move around in it really quickly, doesn't mean that it's better than a program that is just easy to use and intuitive. i get the feeling that a tiny part of you is jealous that you had to learn all that stuff and some people just don't need to any more :hihi:

anyway, as i've said, i don't think there's anything wrong with learning to use a program. there's a lot to be said for understanding basic principles of routing, navigation and so-on in conventional sequencers. Tracktion merely goes to show that there are other ways of doing things. Tracktion also has plenty of assignable keyboard shortcuts. you can, of course, zoom with shortcut keys, but these are inherently 'stepped'.. with mouse drag-zooming, you have an almost analogue zooming control, and can instantly instinctively zoom to the level you want, and i'd be surprised if anyone had to zoom in to do some detailed editing that didn't require a mouse anyway 8)

anyway, noone is criticising your way of working. just wanted to make sure you knew that we weren't attacking you. we're just celebrating that computers present methods of working that simply do not require lots of training to do. whether that makes newcomers less scared, or makes pros/old-hands feel like their suddenly unshackled does not diminish the usefulness of experience.[/i]

I never ever said "and this goes to platinumears stupid spacewasting comment aswell" that I don't like or that another app is better than tracktion or whatever you're thinking I did!

I just stated that zooming is pretty much standard in most good sequencers, no reason to be mad boys.

I'm never jealous, whatfor please? Jealousy is stupid and only idiots are jealous ;) When it hits me I turn away and switch on my brainwash machine just to say that nobody is perfect and jealousy can get close but there are ways to make jealousy fail it's attempt to hit one's soul!

@zuki,

As a long time Orion user, I'd be shocked if you have more problem with plugins in T than Orion. Are you sure your patch/ensemble doesn't have velocity linked to cutoff? Sorry for asking this, but we've seen too many ppl who have no idea what a synthesizer is about...

If you still have problem, maybe you should seek help from Native Instrument too, especially since they charged so much for Reaktor, compared to Tracktion. :P

To all fellow groundhoggers...let's stop feeding the troll.

Wtf are you comparing a Reaktor compared to Tracktion, pfff.

No offence, just think!

yeah of course all sequencers let you zoom! but tracktion's right-click mousedrag zoom feature is a real time/effort saver. you won't understand how handy it is til you use it, but that's true of most handy features.

I found Tracktion okay and fairly easy to get going, yes it was a little different, but I like that,,its not going to replace Abelton for me but I have version 3 which doesn't support vsti's.
So Tracktion becomes useful for that alone, plus rewire 8) so hey,,what do you want for nothin,, a rubber biscuit,,
Check out my 1st Tracktion render,,Frustration Nation,,I'll post it as soon as I figure out a couple more Tracktion tools.
