I'm not sure what you mean here, are you talking about doing sum and difference of the stereo input signal to generate "mid / side" signals to process internally to The Drop?

Thinking the actual modulation being pushed to mid or side as it passes thru. Not sure if works that way though

Sorry, I still don't know what you mean! If you'd like to explain further perhaps I can give you a better reply

Audio in pass, through LFO sound that is changed can be sort of pan EQed when outbound so that only LFO effect is sided

What is your motherlanguange? Maybe then we can decipher what you mean.

Initially, I thought he was asking for mid/side processing - not talking about side-band frequencies, as with modulation synthesis.

But then he wrote this:

And I'm lost.

But you can pan the filters using the LFOs available in The Drop.

Otherwise, you can split a signal into mid and side information in your DAW to process independently.

anybody know how to key track the filter receiving midi in logic? i have it clicked and sidechained to itself, but dont see the filter cutoff moving

Here is the full process to help out anyone starting from scratch: Add a "Software Instrument" track then add The Drop by clicking on the first effect slot and choosing "AU MIDI-controlled Effects -> Cytomic -> The Drop". Then in the bottom right click on the MIDI button, and enable LP key track / HP key track / LFO2 key track by clicking on those buttons. Then choose the audio input for the plugin in the top right by clicking the Side Chain combo box. Furthermore, if you would like Glide applied to the keytrack then to the right of the Glide knob make sure the Track button is on.

Is there support to control cutoff with mod wheel? If not that would be super good to have (I have the full version btw). I'd love to use it as a wah typ effect for synth solos. For now Im doing that with the Env but I usually controll cutoff in other synths with mod wheel. I havent found how to control it from modwheel. (Expression pedal would also be nice but modwheel)

There is no midi mapping functionality inside The Drop itself. Almost all DAWs already have such functionality to map a midi controller to a plugin parameter, only ProTools as far as I know doesn't allow for this. Which DAW are you using?

Im using Logic. The thing with midi learn in logic is that it seems to consume those events and not passing them on to other plugins on the same channel. Maybe thats just a setting I have to dig up.

Not sure how you have tried to do it so far and what "MIDI learn in Logic" means in this case, but what about this: Use Logic’s "Modifier" MIDI effect, set input event to Mod Wheel (or any controller you like), and "Re-assign to" -> Learn plug-in parameter -> The Drop cutoff. The Drop can be an insert effect, or a MIDI-controlled effect in the instrument slot. Make sure the "Thru" button is lit, which makes the input event pass to other MIDI effects (if any) and the instrument plugin (whatever it is).

Will there be more filters in the future? I was wondering about a CS-80 filter. Of the 10 current filters, which would be closest to a CS-80 filter?

Post

I'd love to see a 303 filter in there. That's one that is designed for monophonic use and is quite a bit more distinct than most other analog filters compared to each other.

News: The Drop Beta v1.6.0 for Mac is available in your Cytomic account's download section. This version is signed with updated code signing certificates, and is notarised for Catalina. The minimum operating system required is macOS 10.10. I'm still waiting for updated code signing certificates for Windows, and when they are issued I'll release on Windows too. Please let me know how you go, it's been over 2 years since the last release, so I expect there to be some teething issues out there in the wild with you guys, but hopefully nothing serious.
  • New: Lfo2 now continues to sync to internal transport when DAW transport is paused
  • New: updated preset menu look and feel, support for right click on preset menu
  • New: updated text entry to use built in control, not a control in a new overlayed window (hopefully better for new security measures)
  • New: using new folder locations for presets and authorisations in line with recent security changes to macOS and Windows
  • Fixed: presets now sorted alphabetically to next / prev button behave as expected
  • Fixed: Env1 and Env2 triggering issue from MIDI as the source of only one of the envelopes
