As far as i know, the JUCE open source license, with which OBXd was originally "shipped" prevents the developers to commercialise it. I think you need a commercial license of JUCE to make commercial plugins. What i don't quite understand is that it says that there is a "Made with JUCE" boot screen for the plugins, when you use the free JUCE version, and i never saw that on OBXd, or other free plugins made with JUCE.mcbpete wrote:Wasn't this the no-no that got Soshi Studio into trouble a couple of years ago ?.jon wrote:can it be commercialised?

OB-Xd is under JUCE 4 GPL license and can be sold without issues. Only requirement would be including the source code.
I could add a purchase button at the website to cover development costs. Donation is not a very good idea (based on previous experience).

I have updated OB-Xd installers. Official announcement in the coming days
Cheers,
George.
- Windows installer now 64-bit with VST2 dialog windows. Removed manual setup files to avoid placing files incorrectly.
- macOS installer fixes GarageBand 10 issues.
- Linux includes a installation script.
Cheers,
George.

225 pages of posts for OBXD synthesizer!! Does that reflect its quality?
I quite like it although OP-X II still has the advantage somehow, maybe because the huge number of good presets. The fact that OBXD is free is superb of course and worth an eternal thank you to the developer.
I wonder if there will be a true circuit modelled OB-X any time soon. And will it be discernably better than what's available now? (is u-he's DIVA good enough?)

I'd like an OBXD Reason Rack Extension. I think it would really shine in Reason environment. I'd pay up to $50 for it.

I tried it once and wasn’t that impressed. OP-X Pro 2 is fine for me. Sounds great.Timfonie wrote:225 pages of posts for OBXD synthesizer!! Does that reflect its quality?

What do you guys think about adding the choice of paying $49 to get funds for further development? It will remain free and source code with enhancements available of course.

I would participate in funding, but what is your plans? What can be added? If we're talking about a replica, then OB-Xd has no room for further development, well at least not that much.discoDSP wrote:What do you guys think about adding the choice of paying $49 to get funds for further development? I can only speak for myself, but I already have over 100 other software synths and I am perfectly happy with the current version of Obxd so I would have no reason to throw out $49. You mentioned that in your experience a donation does not work. I would be much more likely to make a small donation to see what happens than I would to spend $49 on something that I'm am already happy with and it's available for free.discoDSP wrote:What do you guys think about adding the choice of paying $49 to get funds for further development?
