Which single coils sound good with basswood bodies and Floyd Rose's?

Warmoth describes basswood as sounding dark and midrangey, I'm guessing the Dimarzio Area set will sound good if you're trying to get it to sound strat-ish and the Injector set will be good if you're trying to cop that Vai video. Personally, I'd go with an Injector in the bridge and Area 58's in the neck and middle.

Lessons learned
-no matter how well you THINK you keep a guitar clean, they get a lot grungyer than you think.
-no matter how much you "wish" the pressure pads are not worn out and they are good enough, they are not likely.
-learning to take proper care of an instrument is a never ending journey. Learning to DIY is rewarding (until you f**k it up
)
-using picks that are a month old is cheap and unwise
-I don't care.........new strings intonate better and SHOULD NOT feel funky. Should be smooth as buttah.
-You'll play better with a properly setup guitar bass (I know, shocking!)
Also, D'addario must have changed their formula after all. I have both the "older" copper packaging and the newer clear and the newer clear have a voodoo.

You would not enjoy the ones I use, each of my guitars sits with a Jazz-II slipped in between the strings.hibidy wrote:using picks that are a month old is cheap and unwise![]()
They were purchased around 1990.

Well, another useless Guitar Center run.
They didn't have the cables I needed, OR a splitter box, OR the Zoom B2 FX pedal. Argh!
So I tried one of the Tele Plus' I've been lusting over. Sounds amazingly like my Strat but not as quacky. Worse, the maple fretboard felt "sticky" and slowed me down (and I'm slow to start with). Yecch. Tried a "cheap" Les Paul and I still don't like the necks. Blech.
Left without spending a dime. Sigh.
Need a cheap 8-channel mixer to bring in all 3 effects pedals.Nowhere to put it, so I have to buy a table. Feh.
I think I'm going to end up with another Strat at this rate...

I can get you a killer price on a Zoom B3, like in the $150 range.woolyloach wrote:They didn't have the cables I needed, OR a splitter box, OR the Zoom B2 FX pedal. Argh!

The B3 is probably overkill for what I need, but that price is pretty tempting...Uncle E wrote:I can get you a killer price on a Zoom B3, like in the $150 range.woolyloach wrote:They didn't have the cables I needed, OR a splitter box, OR the Zoom B2 FX pedal. Argh!

That mixer looks pretty fab but I need at least 8 channels: 2 for the RP, 2 for the Zoom, 2 for whatever bass pedal and then 1 mic and 1 spare.

Against my better judgement, I couldn't resist taking a punt on this http://www.skylarkguitars.com/skylark-s ... ustic.html
In my defence, I really wanted but semi-healed-broken-shoulder-common-sense prevailed and stopped me buying this http://www.skylarkguitars.com/skylark-s ... leton.html and credit to Steve at Skylark, under the circumstances he said I'd made the right choice.
It's scheduled to arrive some time tomorrow, I'll report back with my initial thoughts then.

I would prefer that style of headstock, but I've gone for the steel strung model which has a 6 in line strat like headstock.nix808 wrote:I like the way the classical head looks.

I would have to go with steel strings too-
or?
I actually would like a nylon strung guitar.
They are very unconventional.
Do be sure and let us know how it plays if suits.
I don't know if I have posted this here before,
but after trying some ceramic pickups,
I am sure that piezo is the best way to go for
pitch to MIDI note. So I would like a neat solution,
instead of my Borged Ibanez RG with Roland GK3.
This is what I plan to snaffle->

The lightburst would be my thing.
I think it's quite beautiful,
and the natural flame is just perfect for my taste.
Cheers and contents in the muse
