Is 2C's Aether REALLY worth it? (the answer is: yes, certainly)

There were a few massacres over the new skin earlier in this Thread.
I must say that I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing in 'real life'. I could never go back to the old skin now. I'm in the middle of a big move from an ancient Windows XP laptop to a entry level Windows 7 laptop, so I've not had time to investigate much if any of the new Aeither but I'm loving what I'm seeing and hearing straight out of the box. Well done and thanks!!!
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Just wait till you bounce the audio down (if you haven't already)... the sound really is amazing.

Please try to download again now. It was replaced around 1:00PM EST.wheever wrote:Bad news for me: 1.5 won't validate on DP 7.11 here either. (I downloaded at about 11am EST) If I force Aether to load, DP quits.
Had a heck of a time getting 1.01 back running again. Can't be without aether for the afternoon!
Let me know if I can help with further testing again. (I tested for 1.01.)

Ahh, I see...Galbanum wrote:Previous version skins should be removed by our installer--they are NOT compatible. If they are not removed automatically, it is possible that disk permissions or user rights are set such that the installer can not correctly remove the files. In this case please go here:
…/Library/Application Support/2C-Audio/Aether/Skins/
and delete:
"Berlin-Large"
"Berlin-Small"
"Indigo-Large"
"Indigo-Small"
you should have only two folders here:
"2C2D Berlin"
"2C2D Indigo"
Thanks Andrew!
and... it sounds absolute fantastic!!!

Now I finally have the time to try it out - after reading the readme at least 10 times on the way home from work.
Since this thread has somehow turned into an all-purpose Aether thread, I think it's time to apologize for the awkward thread title - it originated as "Is Aether REALLY worth it?" when I was looking for a step up in soft reverbs and heard a lot of good things about it, but was hesitant because of the price tag. After deciding on Aether, I added the parentheses. "Yes, certainly" now seems a bit weak after a few months of relying on it as my go-to reverb and loving every minute of it - so I would now add that it's worth every goddamn cent, and more, for being so flexible and sounding so wonderful.
And now, off to Aetherland!

No worries... We think it's a nice title!
I will start a new *official* aether 1.5 thread once we release to press and public.

This thread prompted me to take a close look at Aether, which resulted me buying it several weeks ago and making it my go-to reverb.ariston wrote:After deciding on Aether, I added the parentheses. Tomorrow or Monday at the latest since some time today was lost to fix the little AU snag...
We did not send out to press yet. You guys here just get a sneak peak since this community helped us make aether widely known last year (and continuously...).

AU works for me now, and this is an excellent reverb and way worth it. I almost feel guilty for
buying it in the group buy last year. Great service to fix the AU.
Thanks

I own ableton live 8 studio and the reverb bundled is not my cup of tea. I am shopping for a good all-purpose reverb.
I recently demoed RP-Verb, It's nice but I keep hearing that Aether is the @#@$. Looking forward to test v
1.5 demo before I make my purchase decision by the end of this month.
cheers

Hi Andrew - 64 bit Windows version is working fine. Any chance of a dedicated installer for Win 32 version or a new installer that will ignore the 64 bit path when installing the 32 bit version?

Well admittedly, it was a little stressful to find this little snafu in release instead of beta, but little bugs are inevitable I guess, and when we measure our "time to solution" in hours instead of weeks like many companies, I think this reflects positively on us as a whole...wheever wrote: Thanks for getting this worked out so quickly, Andrew!
We are watching closely and listening to your feedback to be sure everything is is perfect. That's our commitment to you. Hopefully that's clear.
