Latest update now has us up to 226!

Reminder... the CINCO15 code expires today. Using that code, you can get $15 off nearly anything on esoundz - and it works for this group buy. So for just a little while longer, you can get one of the IK instruments plus at least two bonus libraries (your choice - the list is on page on of this thread, and there's also a new Miroslav Outtakes set as well) for $84.

We gave Torgo the grand hookup on epointz today. He didn't even ask for it but he's been doing a great job helping everyone out on his own and I am sure everyone agrees he deserves it. So, a big thank you to Torgo! Your efforts to help others with useful info, opinions and enthusiasm do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

By the way, we're past 230 now and today was (still is) a good day for the Hot Buy Group Buy (wonder why? ;) ) so that means we're getting that much closer to yes yet ANOTHER free library if it reaches 300 before the end of the month which at this rate is sure to happen (but no guarantee so keep it up and spread the word). This deal is getting really crazy with potentially 3 free libraries PER VI you buy on www.esoundz.com from the Hot Buy promo. Some people are getting a LOT of sounds for under a couple hundred bucks. But good for you if you are! Better than missing it and kicking yourself later.

Thanks, Squids! Much appreciatied!

Heads up for anyone who can use RAW (REX, Apple loops, or "Acidized" WAV format) loops... there's a big set of percussion loops in the Free Soundz section on the esoundz web site:

http://www.esoundz.com/freesoundz.php

It will supposedly be there only for this week, as part of their big Cinco de Mayo weekend sale.

While you're at the Free Soundz page, scroll way down and look for a red circle with the word "HOT" inside it. That's a free teaser of instruments for IK's alleged "Studiophonik" instrument - which has been their upcoming Next Big Thing since March 2004.

The great news is that this is a free 146 meg zip file, and the sounds are in SampleTank format. So it's yet another mini-library to add to your bounty.

Do I get a code for a specific product to redeem, or a multibox?
(and what are the rules for transferring it? can I give it away?)

I don't need another SampleTank License (thanks to the last group buy),
but the Bonus Sounds are worth the buy-in price.

doubleslash - I'm in a similar situation. I have all the instruments for myself, but I'm hoping to set up someone else with a Sonik Synth 2 license as a gift. So I went ahead and joined this group buy.

The good news... the bonus libraries (which will indeed be worth the price, if we reach 3 or more choices) show up as the usual multiboxes in your esoundz user area - along with the serial number for the instrument you purchased. So for those bonuses, you don't have to bother with IK at all. All the bonuses are strictly through esoundz.

The moderately bad news... once a serial number is registered with IK, they charge a pretty hefty license transfer fee. It's the one major policy of theirs that I don't like, and it's a reason to avoid buying their programs second-hand.

My solution... I'm just going to hang on to that serial number and not register it with IK. When the time comes, I'll help my gift recipient create his own IK user ID, and we'll register the product in his name at that time.

I'm just hoping there won't be any issues over the serial number sitting unused in my esoundz user area for too long. But I think it will work.

At the very least, I know there won't be any issues with the bonuses. There's one multibox link for each bonus choice already sitting in my esoundz user area.

DavyAch wrote:For those of you buying these products, some combi tips. Combis (layered sounds basically) can be used to quickly extend the sonic palette, so they are worth getting (in my opinion).

On KVR my Sonik Synth combis are available...though not as plentiful or as good (Same price though!)
There are combis for sale in the £15-$18 range on eSoundz for Sonik Synth, SampleMoog and SampleTron. Sampletron, from what I can remember had no combis by default.
I can confirm that the CINCO15 voucher worked when I bought the Sampletron & Moog combis yesterday...the Tron combis in particular I like (but Trons aren't for everyone as has been said). Got both for just under $15...
Thanks for the tip, DavyAch! I'd already DL'ed the Miroslav ones, but didn't know about the Sonik Synth ones. I've DL'ed your combis (thanks again!), and also scooped up the esoundz ones for $2.99 (CINCO15 coupon is still working as of now).

Haven't even downloaded my SS2 purchase yet, but I figure I should strike while the iron is hot...

More great tips, torgo! Thanks for pointing out the time critical aspect of some of these freebies.

In case it isn't totally obvious, I'm a complete n00b at a lot of this stuff, so I'd been perusing the free downloads section and scratching my head a lot wondering what software some of these freebies work with. So I'll definitely DL a few more ASAP now that I know a little more from your tip.

Quick question: I'm using FL Studio 10. Of the three RAW formats (REX, Apple loops, or "Acidized" WAV format), I suspect at least one will one with FL. If so, any recommendations on which format might work best? I was going to wait until I had learned a little more about about these, but since the clock is ticking, I guess I better do it now.

BTW, I sent another ePointz your way (from my $2.99 SS2 combis purchase). I was going to give it to DavyAch, who had provided the tip about it, but I couldn't verify what his esoundz id was, and I've got yours memorized now :D .

Wow, I hadn't checked out FL Studio in quite a while, and I was surprised at how good it looks now.

I'd say you would probably have the easiest time with the Rex format. That one is pretty much certain to work in FL Studio. The Acidized WAV format might work too, but I'd probably just stick with Rex.

Yeah, I've only had FLS for a few weeks now, but it does seem to have a lot of capability. Lifetime free updates is what made me decide to give it a go. And SampleTank seems to work without a hitch.

BTW, if you do have some time to do some tutorials on using ST, that will be great. I've been randomly twisting knobs a bit, but some expert tips will sure be useful. I've watched all of squids awesome videos several times, and that's what got me interested in ST in the first place, but they're mainly showcasing all the cool features it has. Some guidance on how to use it effectively will be very helpful. The main thing I've managed to do so far is change the screen color to be something a little more restful on the eyes :)

Thanks for the info on using REX. I'll try DL'ing some of those first and see if I can figure out how to load them into FL. Right now I'm downloading the Miroslav files (to be followed by the SS2 files), so it may be a while before I get a chance to try it.

I have a couple more questions as well:

I have three systems (my main desktop, a laptop and a MIDI keyboard-attached system). I'm assuming I'll be able to legally install Miroslav/SS2 on all three systems, is that correct? The IK site indicates I can have up to 5 authorizations, but I just want to confirm that if possible. Right now I only have ST installed on my main desktop system.

Also, I'm interested in getting the Notion 3 SLE edition for Miroslav. I just noticed that my Miroslav/SS2 purchase netted me 29 JamPoints, which will make a nice discount on the IK site when buying Notion (the group buy that just keeps on giving!). I've watched all of the SLE demo videos, and it seems like a nice program. Anyone have any first hand opinions on this?

Its DavyAch, but torgo is a much more deserving recipient anyway! I just think everyone who gets the Sampletank family should be helped to get must fun out of them..hope you enjoy!

I have my code in esoundz member area. But accessing IK Multimedia user area I can't see anything. I used to have the option to download/authorize products.

Maybe I'm missing something
