Bumping 8 year old threads that aren't especially relevant to your reply just isn't useful.

Commenting on someone bumping a thread that IS relevant instead of starting another thread isn't useful.

I finally have version 2 (now that version 3 is released)...
Was tying v3, in this time of cheap upgrade, but it's a bit half baked.
v3 uses about double the CPU, even with everything reduced and disabled.
I noticed this too, too bad because the quality of the plugin as gained significantly and i just hope that future updates might help in getting a lower CPU weight

i noticed the attack transients were 'thinner' with v3. In a pleasant way. Finer resolution transients? Overall it sounds different, i'm not 100% sure if better, but it sounds different. A bit of finesse.
Ultimately though, it doesn't matter how many layers or new sounds it has. It's the double CPU hit which is a no go for me.

Some presets bug out my 10-core Mac Pro 6,1 with a single voice... I can‘t imagine this is intended. Lets see if there are updates which address this...
I do like the sounds I get...

The CPU usage is completely bananas. I have a decent machine and on half the patches I can't even use the pitch bend properly. Their reply was basically - "can't comment on development, it is what it is for now, try to lower the settings".

i demo'd it and i'm hugely disappointed. no new resonator shapes (no horn/cone shape to add to the open and closed tubes?), no option to chain more than 2 resonators together and—and this is the biggest one—the same number of modes. you can't make bass instruments in chromaphone 2 because the harmonics for any resonator that's not a tube or a string won't stop at a certain frequency, they'll stop at a certain number of harmonic modes. try making a gong down in the 40 and 50 hz zone and you'll find that the sound will suddenly get cut off a couple hz up. the problem isn't as obvious with higher fundamental frequencies but a lot of them still cut off way below 22khz.

i tried the demo of v3. same amount of musical modes, like the EXACT same.

what this means is that they managed to increase cpu usage a prohibitive amount, while still leaving the fundamental sound and technology of the plugin stranded about a decade into the past.

if a half-decent replacement came along, at this point, i'd probably jump ship on AAS for good.
