Duophonic mode doesn't "split two signals to fake stereo".osiris wrote:Are you stacking voices? I saw you have a choice of Duophonic, splitting two signals to fake stereo. Would that make 4 voices quadraphonic? Not really quad but four mono signals.
In duophonic mode play one note (press one key) and both oscillators will be pitched relative to that note. Play two notes (press two keys simultaneously) and the first oscillator will be pitched relative to the lowest note, the second oscillator to the highest.
For example: with both oscillators tuned to the same frequency, press one key and both oscillators will be triggered at the same pitch. But press C1 and F1 together and the first oscillator will play C1, the second F1.
Aside from the osc pitch, the signal flow is as for mono-legato mode (playing overlapping notes doesn't retrigger the envelopes).
Interesting effects can be had playing sloppy solos with different glide amounts (Glide Offset follows the second note/osc). Try with ring mod and/or sync between the oscillators too.
EDIT: If you combine Duo mode with a 2 voice stack, or indeed any number of voices, osc 1 and 2 for all voices will be pitched with respect to the two keys in the same way.
As for stereo/panning effects in Tyrell, it can be done - the easiest way is to use a preset that already has VCA:1 Pan selected as a Matrix Target (VCA:1 Pan isn't available from the dropdowns).
