I thought that too... It's one 'fat' synth and really delivers the bass (as well as the high end of course).
Looking forward to the update.

Hey good news you're still working on the plugin. In my opinion it's one plugin that deserves a higher profile and in KVR terms should have as much coverage as u-he, Spire, Synthmaster, to name a few....sches wrote:Yes, I did my best to improve CPU load. I've been reviewing performance now and then, and, for example, the next update will inculde little optimization for oscillators, which reduces CPU usage by an almost unnoticeable amount. Really I can't optimize the plugin better than it is now
And yes, thanks BDeep, demo version is the same as full one, except for demo noise.
Can I ask is this going to be purely a OSX update, or will we see some cpu improvement on Windows?
+1 for multicore, would be a massive aid for Diversion.

Thanks guys! Unfortunately Diversion is not the case, it's not possible to make it multi-core, I mean not effective with the existing architecture
Yes, it is for both Mac and Win, but that won't be a great improvement. Can I ask is this going to be purely a OSX update, or will we see some cpu improvement on Windows?

I love this synth...
here are a few things that need to be addressed on the OSX version
often the octave display for the oscillators goes to zero after i've switched it up or down.
I would really love to be able to automate the LFO speed but in ableton it doesn't appear to be possible.
thanks and keep up the good work.

Yeah Theo, I found that too... Once you start upping the unison or the oversampling it really starts to eat up the CPU (and more than Spire does).TheoM wrote:I noticed this myself when playing with diversion the other day, it really delivers the low end. Its rare to find a synth that has such punchy bass. The problem I am having is its eating even more cpu than spire here (on its default 2x setting). I know my iMac could handle it but I just don't get the chance to use it, but I still don't see how even if I went for a flagship new MacBook, how 500mhz would make that big of a difference anyway. I'm stuck on whether to keep it just for the synth bass. Pads are unplayable here. It just sounds SO good though, I think its one of the finest sounding virtual synths available tbh.Robmobius wrote:I thought that too... It's pretty workable on the Imac tho'. But I'm not too sure how it would be on a laptop as you say.
Absolutely cracking soft synth, and its sound is huge. Diversion is one of my all time favs.
It'd always be a keeper for me, but I see your predicament, if your laptop is struggling.
Cheers,
Rob.

Just testing this out for the first time tonight. A monster synthesizer with massive sound design flexibility. Dmitry has managed to cram almost every feature you could want in a non-modular within a surprisingly compact user interface. My CPU weeps under the pressure, but it's a beautiful kind of sadness.

Superb synth and is in the uhe league in my humble opinion.
CPU can be an issue, even on an i7 desktop. But it's a keeper and no doubt will get better...

So much praise, I love this synth too. Such a great sound.
I wonder what Diversion 2 will look like!

I made this a few days ago, the lead synth is Diversion using an imported single cycle waveform from my soprano sax:

Thanks guys for your lovely feedback!
robotsound, I'll check and try include a fix to the coming update.
Yes, PADs are the most CPU killing patches due to unison and long envelope release, it's a main Diversion's drawback. BTW, the update I'm going to release, has something to address problems with PAD sounds, it's not a workaround for high CPU usage in unison, but something that can make PADs life easier in the plugin...
Cool sound Simon, as always
