Now Hive is here, is it RIP Sylenth?

IMO the bass is pretty excessive on some of today's plugins anyway tbh... it's like you go to a club, or to the cinema. Everywhere the bass is turned up to max. It's pretty inflationary.

Yes, there is a bass epidemic in modern musicchk071 wrote:IMO the bass is pretty excessive on some of today's plugins anyway tbh... it's like you go to a club, or to the cinema. Everywhere the bass is turned up to max. It's pretty inflationary.
In order to avoid disturbing my neighbor I have split my mp3 playlist into. Now all those songs with excessive bass content are in a separate folder, which I don't load when I listen to music at night

I'd like this lead sound (love this one...can't remember its name though) that I used from Sylenth1, but would like to try and get that from Dune 2 or some other synth. Maybe Hive can replicate it?
https://soundcloud.com/examigan/metropolis-edit
I tried duplicating it in Dune 2 recently, and it's a little tough, even though it doesn't sound too complex. This whole song was Sylenth1 except the drums.

I think the most people see Sylenth1 as RIP-synth, because the current state "v2.2" is now probably 5-6 years old. A long time where nothing happened. (also amazing and confusing at the same time, that also through the long time of silence it`s atm the most used synth in EDM)...
Never understood why LD didn`t updated Sylenth1 quicker, or maded another synth etc.
Now HIVE is on the horizon, and hmmm it`s bullet proofed uHe quality, low cpu, more features... if Sylenth1 goes RIP for real, it will be HIVE`s fault
But based on the company forum LD seams to really working an a major update with new features (probably at least 4 years too late...) so well, maybe Sylenth1 won`t die so quick as some expect

I assume LD does not do that for a living, thus they don't really care. Maybe they did care 10 years ago, but if it really was a business, they could not afford such a lazy behavior, nor offer just a single product.
They must have sold thousands of licenses worth hundreds of thousands of dollars or euros. And some people like me still buy it, so they keep earning without doing anything, which is not bad
LD has probably long switched to wrestling or brewing for a living

It's the most popular soft synth ever. I don't think it's RIP.
Ok, it isn't upgraded but to be honest - I don't care
If you want something different but similar
choose Spire, Hive.

Nah...Sylenth is a classic. Vintage, even. Soon, even u-he will be selling emulations...oh, wait.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

Sylenth1 was the sh*t back in 2009. Now there are synths that are miles ahead. S1 sounds dated to me, to the point where I'd rarely use it in a current project. I only keep it on the system, because my 5yo niece likes playing with it when she comes over.

Can you give us some examples? Otherwise you're just talking nonsense. Which plugins, exactly? Are you talking about the presets, or are you actually claiming that the plugin's settings themselves are already set to have higher bass? What a load of nonsense.chk071 wrote:IMO the bass is pretty excessive on some of today's plugins anyway tbh... it's like you go to a club, or to the cinema. Everywhere the bass is turned up to max. He didn't say there was a bass epidemic in modern music, so why are you agreeing with something he didn't say? He claimed that some of today's plugins have "excessive bass". This isn't remotely true.fluffy_little_something wrote:Yes, there is a bass epidemic in modern musicchk071 wrote:IMO the bass is pretty excessive on some of today's plugins anyway tbh... it's like you go to a club, or to the cinema. More nonsense. Sylenth sounds great today, even though there are better synths out there. Can you show us some of these 'dated' sounds? Surely anything made before December 2014 is 'dated' as well, and should be thrown in the trashcan.izonin wrote:Sylenth1 was the sh*t back in 2009. Now there are synths that are miles ahead. Sylenth isn't going anywhere, precisely because it's already been so popular. There are hundreds (over 900, I think) of preset packs for it, it's easy to program, has low CPU, sounds fantastic, and will always sound fantastic. It doesn't need updating. Did the M1 or D50 need updating?Cyforce wrote:I think the most people see Sylenth1 as RIP-synth, because the current state "v2.2" is now probably 5-6 years old. A long time where nothing happened. I said it sounds dated to me. Just like a JP-80x0 or a Virus A.basslinemaster wrote:More nonsense. Sylenth sounds great today, even though there are better synths out there. I still use some synth plugins made before 2009, I think they still sound great. Helix, Minimonsta, Zebra, and impOSCar are a few of them. I believe Alchemy was released in 2009, still sounds awesome.basslinemaster wrote:More nonsense. Sylenth sounds great today, even though there are better synths out there.
