Hey Jack,
Can PM me your crash logs with Live9? I'll forward them to Cakewalk and make sure they see them.

I installed using the Command Center. Just a couple of clicks, but the whole thing took about 5 hours (and I have a high-speed broadband connection).
I installed to the default folders. I didn't really have any home grown presets, so I'm not sure what I might have lost. I wasn't aware of the problem until reading this thread this morning. Kind of nervous to go back and check now.
I had about 1/2 hour to fool around with it before turning in at 2:30 a.m. I checked out the new preset library, and I must say that I am underwhelmed. To my ear, the presets that I played (I played around with Atmos, Bass, Guitars, Electric Pianos, Pianos, and Grooves before hanging it up) were unimaginative, a bit dated, and sounded lackluster. And, by the way, what's up with the Bass folder? Not the Synth Bass folder, which you expect to be whacky and dubby, but the regular bass folder--not one actual 'bass' in the entire collection. Nothing that would actually slip into the mix of a song and qualify as a bread and butter bass part.
The plug itself is very nice. Good GUI, nice inclusion of all the Rapture/DimPro libraries and expansions. For some reason, Cubase 8 x64 wasn't allowing me to open Dim Pro. But in Rapture Pro, it's back in an easy to use format. And all the legacy stuff sounds just like it should. I've always really liked the "Real Basses" expansion in DimPro. Some great expressive instruments in there, and IMHO, really shows off what you can do with this thing.
So, overall, useful, but a bit disappointing. In a 'bang for the buck' comparison, the $99 Sampletank 3 upgrade was a much better deal.
Cheers

I wonder what mr. Anderton has to say now after this buggy installer fiasco.

I don't presume to speak for him, but my feeling from his posts is that the company is now better equipped to handle things like this.EvilDragon wrote:I wonder what mr. Anderton has to say now after this buggy installer fiasco.
The mark of a great organization is apparent in what they do AFTER the unthinkable happens.
If the above posts are an accurate indication, the company obviously has a big hill to climb.

It deleted the rest of my stuff, and I didn't use Command Center. I'm on Mac, and I used the individual installer for one of the packs, and specified the folder I wanted to install into on an external drive. My advice is do not use command center at all. Both z3ta and rp crash live instantly in 64 bit. Not a good way to start out new synth releases.

Had the same problem with Z3ta. I deleted, did a clean install, then repaired permissions, and it works fine now in Live 64 bit. Did this after waiting a week with no reply from Cakewalk support
jackmazzotti wrote:I should not have called anyone "idiots". That was wrong of me. Deleting computer files without a users permission is what malware does. Was about to purchase it, but after reading here...
Is there a single user who has anything good to say about the sonic capabilities, especially working with own samples (the videos up on youtube are not convincing by any means)? (Looking to replace Alchemy and it would theoretically complement what I now have.)

Rapture won't replace Alchemy for you. Two different beasts.

It is no replacement for alchemy but rapture is an amazing synth in its own right. I wouldn't be so mad if rapture wasn't one of my all time favs. I mainly use my own sounds.

same on the pc for me - the path for the presets was greyed out and set to be the same as used by sonar x3, the installer did let me set the path for the multisamples though.gnosis123 wrote:Interesting - on the Mac it's the reverse (which actually makes more sense, given the size of the samples folder).DrumAddict wrote:you can point where presets are installed but the Multisamples goes to C:\Cakewalk Content\Rapture Pro\Rapture Pro\Multisamples
you can´t choose the install path for multisamples , even after editing the registry it gots installed there and needed to move the multisamples folder manually
I wonder if on the pc it depends on whether you've got sonar already installed - as the installer also asked me where to put the vst2 format plugin, but then went and put it where sonar x3 was set to put the plugins, ignoring what I'd entered.

It will never come close to Alchemy in what it can do.
It's basically a nice SFZ-Sampleplayer and tweakable Rompler with some wavetable synthesis added.
The filters are nothing to rave about, there is no preset morphing, the vector stick only fades between the 6 possible parts, the effects are okay but definitely not breathtaking.
There are some nice 3rd party soundsets out for it that do good stuff though.
I still think it's most interesting to people who already have Rapture and Dimension and want them unified and at least slightly modernized.
But as BERFAB wrote, the new sounds are mostly not really that good (found some gems, though).
The GUI is a matter of taste, I personally find it hard to read and for instance the lines on the knobs are almost impossible to see, so it's hard to see the value of a knob other than from the glowing ring.
Still feels clunky to me.
The Browser still has no favourites system (5 star rating please), you still need to doubleclick on a preset to select it (why?), if you minimize the GUI and re-open it, the browser no longer shows the selected preset in view. You can't read the name of the current sample in the editor although there is a lot of empty space to the left of it...
Sounds are very different in volume, hardly any uses the Modwheel, AT or the X/Y pads...
So yes, the patients are revived and united, but it will take a LOT more love to bring them back to center stage.
Cheers,
Tom

Actually, the system automatically records and displays the number of times you open a preset. Obviously I haven't used it much yet, so I haven't really tested it, but this is actually a pretty clever system for automatically determining favorites. That is, assuming there's a way to rank the presets by number of clicks. I presume there is.ThomasHelzle wrote: The Browser still has no favourites system (5 star rating please)
