Thanks, I'm happy you enjoyed the little mashup "game"

Obviously I'm pretty vocal on SC, when it comes to going through the tracks and I have to tell you, sometimes the worst is to actually really find good reasons to compliment a track, but just can't put it in a higher rating compared to other tracks. It's the whole "Great Job!" thing, which is totally sincere, but still might drop it into 3 points, maybe even just 2, who knows. But, yeah, this feels odd, but it is "correct" and real.
As I said earlier, it's tough with only 5 slots.

And, Luigi, don't make me insecure about what I'm writing here! :x :hihi:

My friend, don't worry it's just my way to stimulate some of my synapsis.

Awesome tracks, everyone! I really enjoyed all your music.

I gave mostly 5s  There is so much excellence!

I only used two criteria,

a) how well you expressed your musical ideas
b) production quality (much less valuable than (a), IMO)

It's a really fun, unique voting system here.
I hope that people keep in mind that the value of the music is personal and separate, IMO.

The two most inspirational entries for me are by Taronium and DreamForgedStar. Thanks for sharing such incredible, expressive music, for me to use as a guide to improve myself.

If anyone would like to, please PM me constructive feedback about my mix and arrangement and stuff.

Edited spelling :dog:

I'm extra happy to read that, 574X! Thanks for sharing!

There are a set of folks here, who should really understand how to give proper feedback to your kind of genre or rather to the kind of mix this sort of music would best benefit from. I kind of hope Jasinski will have a word of advice for you as well as this other fantastic new guy...eh... "mmGhost", yeah, that was to me a very impressive mix with all the volume you'd want and no more. Great stuff! But there are more folks, of course.

Anyhow, welcome to the OSC, which goes for all the great new peeps. Did Tyrell get you all out of the woodwork, or was it just the right time for everyone? Which ever it was...it's fun to see and hear you all! :hyper:

Here's a quick way to comment on all the songs: https://soundcloud.com/kvrosc/reposts

All the entries are listed on the repost page. Happy votin!

Post

Thanks for doing that, bjporter. The SoundCloud playlist was glitchy for me.

Yeah, I'd love to learn genre-specific stuff.

Uh, also, for first timers like me, be aware that when the rules say "Once voting has ended, all votes will be published" they mean that all individual pairings of voters and vote assigned to a particular track will be published, with names :o. (I don't mean this as a criticism, I can understand why things might be set up this way, but it was quite unexpected to me until this comment made me go look, so I thought others might want the warning.)
So I have to apologize for causing this derailing, which I should have anticipated. I didn't intend to turn this thread into a referendum on anonymous voting, and if there is one it should probably be in the general OSC thread anyways -- I just posted this here because I doubted any of the other new people here this month (of which I think there are a lot) would expect it to be non-anonymous, given that the internet is mostly filled with [often quite problematic] anonymous pseudo-polls. Personally I don't see the problem (and I can see some positives), but it's just something you want to know before rating.

Post

Man, hahaha, I wonder how many OSC threads exist that didn't have some discussion about the voting system one way or another.
So, please, don't worry, tylenol! Obviously it was a very useful thing to bring up (again!), as this tends to be overlooked by new musicians.

5 Alvfaria - Robotonik 3000 XL
4 3lu5iv3 - OSC
3 Darksynth FX - LOst in Space
2 Laxplanet - I used to watch VHS
1 Curiosity - Marat Tanalin
;) check out the first post of the thread, it will get you going. You need to make an account on https://www.onesynthchallenge.org/ and give 1-5 points to every track (69 tracks in total), not just five tracks.

The reason why I dont comment as much on soundcloud because I hate how it works. Maybe im stupid but sometimes adding comment doesnt work at all a or comment disappear somewhere after even I can see it clearly before on track and comments. So Im sorry for that.

Also it will be nice if there were not my entry on my voting list. It is weird to add score for my track and I dont see option for zero score :D .

It would be hard to match and exclude the right track when you login with your email and not your KVR name! It's almost certain to fail. :dog: The trouble with a zero score is that post people would not use it and a zero score just seems so much worse than a 1 score (for some reason). Also, putting a zero means there's 6 categories, and that usually does not work well - having a definite midpoint is always a good idea - hence the Likert scale which uses 1-7 (not 0-6 !!!).

For me personally, zero is a fine number, but then I have been programming computers since the mid 1960's! Maybe we should vote in OCTAL ... :hihi: 001, 010, 011, 100, 101, 110, 111 - missing 000, see what I did ... then maybe those who get 111 (and looks like one hundred and eleven!) will feel so much more superior to those who got a 001 - hehe :roll:Just kidding there of course. :borg:

Done voting. I might have a tiny extra session in a day or two, but if I don't...I have voted! 8-)

And, Bob, just use a 7 instead of a 1. Then those with the lowest rating will still have that Bond feeling! 8)

Your own track will automagically be counted as "1" in your own voting.
