Why do people here hate on cherry audio?

A friend suggested I check out DCO-106, so I purchased it. This was my first purchase from Cherry Audio. Before that suggestion, I had never heard of them. My first impression of their synth was a disappointment. What I heard might've been a good synth but not a Juno. I've never used it since my initial disappointment. I would've sold the license, but I automatically assumed the transfer would've cost since the purchase price was so low. I do not foresee myself purchasing another product from them again.

You can always demo their products first.

I remember years ago when people were saying the same things about Arturia synths. Sameness to the sounds. Must be reusing code. But, they kept improving over the years.
All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

Arturia completely changed their plugin development teams. They use the Pulsar Audio and Martinic Plugins to develop some of their plugins for example.Rabid wrote: Tue Jul 12, 2022 2:40 pm I remember years ago when people were saying the same things about Arturia synths. I bought Cherry Audio Voltage Modular in early 2021 and now it's been upgraded to have significantly more features than Clavia's G2 Modular I used to own. One of the greatest features they just added to the core app is "variations" that let you make unlimited variations you can switch between with midi control. Experimental music is weak on Voltage, though.

always great those contrasts; i find VM great for experimental music, i have many examples; a short one; it are recordings, not full VM, in that way; but stacked, i.e. afterwards the small recordings were copied, etc. to make a track;WordClock wrote: Wed Jul 13, 2022 1:39 am I bought Cherry Audio Voltage Modular in early 2021 and now it's been upgraded to have significantly more features than Clavia's G2 Modular I used to own. I think VM is so criminally underrated, especially regarding the third party - modules from people like; MRB, Hetrick, PSP, UA & Vult, just to name a few. Even for more generative, experimental stuff your good to go with some extra modules by Bernard or Andrew Macaulay. It just a fun - playground to have and also easy to access for the most, imho.

Use other plugins from other vendors to develop their own plugins , wtf does that even mean ? Lolv1o wrote: Tue Jul 12, 2022 3:05 pmArturia completely changed their plugin development teams. Pulsar Audio worked on some of the plugins in the Arturia FX suite (they also did some work for Slate Audio). And Martinic did some work on the Arturia synths.
In case you still don't understand my original post after re-reading it again, what I mean is these days Arturia do a lot of external sub-contracting, as opposed to doing all development in-house.

I like VM, it's true (imo) that all the best stuff in it, does not come from CA. The bulk of their
designs are pretty lackluster. I wish they would put more effort into their designs, either they
are not very good at it or it's some kind of strategy on their part. The latter is what bugs me,
they have a great product that could be much better, yet they spend their time on these silly
emulations. What I would like to see, would be some great modular designs and some effort
to make the system work more like a real modular, as many things really do not.
To say that I hate CA is just plain wrong, I am just ornery. The only hate I see is when the fanbois
see some negative comment that they don't like and get all in a bunch about it. Anyway, whatever

It's not at all uncommon for large "name brands" to have their plugins developed by unknown (or semi-unknown) 3rd party vendors. Some of these 3rd party vendors then create their own companies (for instance Fuse Audio, Pulsar etc.)gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Jul 13, 2022 12:41 pmUse other plugins from other vendors to develop their own plugins , wtf does that even mean ? Or even well known developers the way RP did. Of course we saw the problem there when he started dropping support for older products as contracts ran out. Arturia does seem to have a team to keep things going.bmanic wrote: Wed Jul 13, 2022 8:50 pm [...It's not at all uncommon for large "name brands" to have their plugins developed by unknown (or semi-unknown) 3rd party vendors. ...
