I'm using Reaper and can confirm the track naming works with the VST3 version. Either there is an issue with the CLAP version or CLAP doesn't support that feature.
In Bitwig the CLAP version of Pro-Q4 takes the track name as expected.

At 3:20 in the above video, Dan Worrall explains that the instance names/colours currently only works for the VST3 format of Pro-Q 4.
The names and colors work in CLAP version in Bitwig

Mainly for the "bread and butter" use cases (simple EQing, dynamic EQ....), not all the fancy shiny stuff... 8) :hihi:
Kirchhoff running encrypted code inside a virtual machine certainly doesn't help with CPU usage

FabFilter did a Holiday Sale last year during the end of December. I wonder if they would run a sale this time, but at the same time I doubt it as Pro-Q 4 was just released.

Dr.Gunjah wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 3:08 pm Automatic naming does not work in Reaper with the CLAP version, but the VST3 version works.

I have received some feedback from Fabfilter, regarding the issue of track colour (and track name) support within Pro-Q 4's "Instance Lists" feature.

They confirm that the CLAP format doesn't yet support this feature, but will be including it in future.

(NOTE: Perhaps, if it does indeed work already in Bitwig, that is due to that DAW's close integration with CLAP and the latest CLAP updates, etc.)

Fabfilter also state that the reason the Track colours doesn't currently work for the VST3 format within FL Studio, is something for Image-Line to fix on their end (as it does work as expected in other DAWs).
Thanks for getting in touch.

CLAP indeed does not offer track order just yet, but they will include it in a future update.

VST3 in FL does not offer track color, but that's something that FL needs to fix. It does work with VST3 in other hosts.

Hope that cleats it up. Just let me know if you have any more questions.

I have contacted Image-Line via their forums to request whether they can investigate the issue.

Presumably, those behind the CLAP standard have already been made aware of this issue. And if Bitwig's integration of CLAP is confirmed as already working, then the same might apply for other DAWs, once they update support for the latest version of CLAP? (albeit, this is pure speculation on my part).

ok, nice to know, thanks.

Doesn't Pro-Q3 already do some automatic naming for the clashing frequency thing? Seems to be low priority then

Dan Worrall using the spectral mode as a vocoder is pretty wild.

As opposed to most resonance suppressors you can also do spectral expansion in Pro Q 4 by pushing the dial clockwise from the centre.

If you enable the sidechain it becomes a modulator for that spectral band and the signal you're processing with the EQ becomes the carrier.

Apart from vocoding the fact that you can do spectral expansion is pretty amazing.

Can't say more but something is being improved in this regard with clap plugins in Reaper pre release.... Have you tried Reaper? 😬

Pro-Q is my most used plugin by far. Often there's in instance in front my plugin chain and another at the end.

Hate the $62 cost, but that curve-drawer alone is probably worth the upgrade price. Most times I open Pro-Q and look at the frequency graph, I know exactly the curve I want. Being able to draw the curve in a single motion will be a huge time saver.

EDIT: Upgraded. Yeah the curve is pretty nice and appreciated the additional pass filter slope options.

Also upgraded to Pro-R2. I don't exactly love Pro-R, so maybe the upgrade will convince me. Feels like I should own a non-IR plate reverb anyhow.

That’s very interesting, and I think I have a better understanding of what’s going on now.

As I mentioned earlier, track names and colors synchronize flawlessly in the CLAP version of Pro-Q 4 when running in Bitwig. However, based on the message from Ralph at FabFilter support that you shared, it seems that CLAP "does not offer track order just yet," which I can now confirm.

If you check the attached screenshot, you’ll see that while the track names and colors are displayed correctly, the listed instances do not match the order of the tracks on the left. This is something I hadn’t noticed before.

Let me know if you'd like me to test anything else or provide more info.

Seems like it's not implemented yet in Reaper: https://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2830188

I'm (not) talking about something which is being worked and already available only in a non official release... "PRE release" you know...
